Link Peking U. Begins Counseling Students Who Have ‘Radical Thoughts’ March 28, 2011, 11:22 am One of China’s most elite universities has begun a counseling program for troubled students, including those who have “radical thoughts,” a move that has come under fire from some scholars, according to China Daily. The program at Peking University, now in the pilot stage, singles out students who have had academic or social difficulties on campus. Zha Jing, deputy director of the university’s student work department, said that most of the counseling is focused on students who fail their exams or have other academic problems. But students who criticize the administration are also brought in. “For instance, some students criticized the university just because the food price in the canteen was raised by 2 jiao (3 cents),” Mr. Zha told the Beijing Evening News, according to the newspaper. Xiong Bingqi, deputy director of the Beijing-based 21st Century Education Research Institute, criticized the program, which is set to be rolled out campuswide in May. “The university is somewhere to cultivate people’s independent personalities and thinking, so it’s totally wrong for Peking University to intervene in students’ freedom to express their different opinions,” Mr. Xiong told the newspaper. We can't have students complaining about the administration now can we?
We have to cleanse ourselves of our counter-revolutionary bourgeois capitalist mindset! And China shows us the way! ;-)

The difference between Communist China and the "free" west is nominal. In ten years you won't be able to tell the difference - we'll all be equally fat, diabetic, polluted and under corporate control.
