Has anyone had any experience (positive or negative) travelling barefoot through airports and on planes? I'm flying across Canada from Toronto to Yellowknife via Edmonton later this year and would love to do the trip barefoot
I have flown barefoot a number of times. You will find that your success (or lack of same) will to a large degree depend on the gate attendant. Some care, some don't. You may want to keep a pair of flip flops in your carry-on in case you do get hassled. There used to be a guy named Straight Toes who frequented this forum. He travelled quite a bit for his job and often did it barefoot. Good luck.
I just did a flight to Spain on us air barefoot onto the plane and all thru the airport. However, I used barefoot sandals to ensure my success, and successful I was. This has been my first totally barefoot travel event. But not the last! It feels fantastic!
I've been traveling by air for business for the past 8 years and every mile has been barefoot. Delta and USAir have it in there Contract to Carry that passengers must have shoes on to board a plane. I have always gotten off the plane bf and am always bf in the airport. I always carry a pair of flip flops to board the plane with. If you get past a gate agent, you then have the flight attendant to deal with.
