My mum has (or more likely had) stock in Lockheed Martin =P Got it after 9/11 based on the advice of a coworker.

I agree with your cause though, so I will try to push the household in that direction.

I have mine filled in but I can't decide what to say for my religion. I was thinking "anti-war peacenik" or "I am jesus, this is my hash pipe" or something about Lockheed Martin. I still have some anti-war stickers from the 2003 Iraq protest, one of which will be going on the envelope, over the bar code possibly hehe. They can't prove I stuck it on there, can they?

I never had any intention of filling mine out.

My budgie is using it as a carpet :)

    Crikey?

I know someone who didn't fill theirs in 10 years ago, and got away with it.

Nah, I'm not paranoid. Nothing to see here :) I think they're a nice thing to be honest. I live and work here and I'm happy to be counted. My girlfriend is Canadian and this was her first census, so she was very excited to fill in the form... Naturally a bit disappointed afterwards!

And this Lockheed Martin connection don't sound too groovy.

My Dad though enjoys tracing back the old family tree and has gathered a load of data from the censuses of yore. Feels to me in some way that I'm adding to that? I don't know really. Not really concerned if folk know where I work and didn't really know of any good reason to boycott the whole thing. Lockheed being new information ;)

Collecting Everyone Names Suspected (of) Underminding Society?

I put my Relgion as PAGAN -(even told them at work)

    # Bokonon > :iagree: I don't believe Paranoid comes into it (Someone is always watching us) - iThink
Still, I am what I am - flaws and all. What they gonna do (although ...hmm)

    # chemigals > Be mindful
There are people (armed with £1000.00 fines) coming to check the form has been completed/sent back

I still haven't been sent a census form. I called them twice asking for one. Apparently I don't exist....

As from today, a unit of 100 "non-compliance" officers hits the streets of England and Wales.

They appareantly have powers to conduct interviews under caution with householders who refuse to fill in the census... anyone who holds out and refuses to take part faces criminal prosecution and a fine of up to 1000 pounds.

As someone with an interest in social history, I can see the potential historical value for future historians of the census.

On the other hand, I could live without the threats.

So in the end I compromised - sent it back but 2 weeks late, and lied about some things. :)

The last census we had here, I ended up chasing the regional director down the road after telling two workers previous to that to fuck off.

He called me back on the phone, thinking he would be safer that way...

He explained to me that the census numbers are there to help the government supply programs to those who help the most.

I said, "I'll make you a deal... Once you have went and counted the people in our society that need the most help, being the homeless, you can come back and count me, until then... FUCK OFF"

    I never heard anything back...

The papers they sent me this year, added a little heat to the house as they burned in the stove before the census worker even got off the property.

Yeah that's the excuse the government uses here too, which would be fair enough IF they did help those in society who weren't filthy rich. (as opposed to doing everything they can to make life even more miserable for them)

My biggest issue with the census is that they only count those who have fixed addresses... To me, it's like they are quite publicly and vocally saying that the homeless don't count. Seriously wtf?

Next to that, is there is not a scrap of information they get from a census that they don't already have, but are just too fucking incompetent to realize it... If you have a bank account, fill out tax forms, recieve any type of government assistance, including just health care, go to school, work any job (that isn't under the table), have a cell phone account, etc etc etc...

Then they ALREADY know all there is to know about you.

Unless of course you have no fixed address and live a nonpapered life (in which case you wouldn't be counted anyway).

The census, at best (even if it did count everyone) is nothing more then another way for the government to waste yet more of the money they steal from us.
