Infect the crescent moon is not a symbol of islam. After the Crusades it became a symbol against cross. And many muslim countries used it in their flags.

But there is a verse about new moon in Koran:
The Cow Section verse 189: "They ask you concerning the new moon. Say: They are times appointed for (the benefit of) men, and (for) the pilgrimage; and it is not righteousness that you should enter the houses at their backs, but righteousness is this that one should guard (against evil); and go into the houses by their doors and be careful (of your duty) to Allah, that you may be successful".

sure it was a symbol against the cross but why the crescent? why not the swastika or ying yang or pyramid or something else.

Many people think that the crescent symbol was prominent at mecca long before Islam was ever started. Mecca was the sight of a great ancient temple devoted to the Hindu Lord Shiva who actually wears the crescent moon symbol on his forehead. The main symbol of lord Shiva is infact the crescent moon.

The site of Mecca indeed has imense supernatural power. Muslims are definately not wrong about that. Because it is said by many Hindus that Mecca is the place at which Lord Shiva Descended onto the earth.

It is my belief that the Angel Gabriel and Lord Shiva are actually the same.

    any arguments?

Angel Gabriel(peace be upon him) is nothing but an angel and a servant to his lord while Hindus see Shiva as a god, how can you compare these two then?

so the two faiths dont see eye to eye on a few things. actually Shiva is a demigod in Hindu scripture and not God so there is a difference. Shiva is also nothing but a servant to his lord.
