My dreads are fairly young. (almost 4 months) I backcombed them to form the initial dreads, and since then they've been on a journey of their own. I have occasionally used a homemade saltwater accelerator, but the tips are far from locking up. Any advice?
They probably won't go round by themselves, not for years anyway. You can temporarily bodge it with a crochet needle, whether or not it's worth it is a debate in itself.
What I did with mine when they were that young was just play with them. I would rub the ends between my fingers and when they were quite knotty I rolled the tip around in my palm. This seemed to do the trick, though with some I had to do this quite often. Another idea is to crochet the tips into the dreads. It's a good option but I would wait another 2 or 3 months first. *hugs* Jess
The tips will round out if your hair wants to or not. Or you can do some chrochet work done to them. Mine did them automatically which was cool
mine are doing it on their own too, but I don't like it as everyone said, except for childintime hahaha, you could crochet them but wait a few months first, who knows maybe they'll do it on their own
4 months isnt long enough for your tips to be locked/rounded unless you force them to with a crochet hook. even then, your locks are probably so loose that if you crochet the tips into them, they'll be likely to slide out. my advice is to learn to love the natural process. naturally rounded tips will eat all of the length of your hair.

crochet hook is the quickest way as mentioned. lots of drawbacks to rounded tips.. ..also looking for a way to unblunt my tips.
What are the drawbacks to rounded tips? Is it just an aesthetic thing for you folks, because I've never heard anyone say that before.
