It was soaking for awhile and I rinsed it off with water for a long ass time, but even after that, it still smells faintly of the alcohol. Is it dangerous to smoke out of? Will that smell ever go away? Any info?

boiling water popped into my head after reading this.

I'm not sure though I was usually really baked from resin after the initial cleaning so it's all a blur. I might have been making Ramen noodles or something.

    Honestly....

    That's dumb as FUCK.

It's not safe to smoke until it's totally dry, at which point, it will no longer smell of alcohol.

Alcohol is for metal and glass. You smoke/scrape/poke out wooden shit.

Getting wood wet will damage it. It will also further dilute and soak in the alcohol, and take even longer to dry out.

Leave it alone, in freely moving air, and let it TOTALLY dry, and then dry that much more, you can absorb ISO by inhilation and it is poisonous. I'd give it a few days in sun/air.

Also, smoking out of it while wet will further damage the wood and decrease the life of the pipe.

yeah I don't use wooden pipes for the soul fact that they are tougher to clean...I agree with keeping it outside in the sunlight for a good 2-3 days

I had a wooden pipe. Had a brass miniature axe-head on it, and was made with wood, had leather twisted around the stem, small metal bowl. Way back very on in my high school years my friends and i used to affectionately call the piece the "peace pipe" due to the fact i bought it from a native american store when i was traveling around yosemite. It isnt actually what Native Americans consider peace pipes, or based on a peace pipe, but just a nickname haha. I actually think that one of my buddies from way back may still have it.

This is true...I do aspire to be Popeye someday ;)

I always thought wooden and metal pipes tasted different...maybe I'm weird...I dunno...but glass pipes are much cheaper around here anyway

I don't entirely agree here... repeating the mistake may be dumb as fuck- but until then it's a learning opportunity.
