Okay so I just wanted to share some effects that I get from opiates (mostly heroin) and hoped that maybe I can get some feedback.

The first thing I consider a fairly possitive thing, the second not so much..

    1) When I do opiates(recently heroin) primarily a few hours before bed, my sleep is greatly effected. I notice that I sleep MUCH less and still feel rested when I wake up! For example..I'll do some opiates(usually IV) at night and after I pass out I automatically wake up 4-7 hours later feeling completely rested. This is weird because I usually need 8-10 hours of deep sleep to feel rested. I consider this a fairly possitive thing. But I wanted to know if anyone can relate. I also get more energy from opiates..and even though I may nod when theyre wearing off, I get extremely talkitive and productive when I'm high. almost like a stimulant, but in a good way.

    2) This..I don't expect many people to know what it is or be able to relate but Ive been conserned for a while and thought I'd share. Sometimes when I use(but rarely) I get weird, sometimes scary psychotic symptoms. After a high dose of opiates(oxy or heroin) I sometimes have weird psychotic symptoms. It's like a switch is turned in my brain. Noises are louder/more annoying. My thoughts rapidly speed up and I hear my thoughts as my voice in my own head, yelling at me with a angry pitch to it. I get weird, off the wall thoughts, and I feel insane. It scares me because I recognize that Im having these insane thoughts. Noises are amplified and everything has an angry/intense pitch to it. It is very hard to explain. It goes away after 10 minutes or so. I also get anxious about it and end up having a panic attack. This has only been going on for the last 6 months or so. And doesnt happen very often. But when it does...it sucks, and is kinda scary. Just wanted to share this because I dont know why it happens. I've experienced similar things before, but VERY rare, and without drugs as a catalyst. Even when I was a little kid I remember getting similar pycho-effects once in a long while. but thought nothing of it.

    Thanks.

It sounds like you have a predisposition to some form of psychotic-ness? Not sure but you said you had similar problems as a child. Have you been to any head shrinkers to find out more about it?

Well, I have seen a psychiatrist and psychologist several times. I have never been diagnosted with any type of mental illness or anything. I've taken tests to see if I was bipolar etc, but I was told I am not since I don't have the signs of it or any manic symptoms or really any persisting psychotic symptoms. When I said I've had it as a child..I have had maybe...3-5 instances of this over my entire life. And if I remember correctly they only lasted maybe 10 minutes. With the whole sound thing..when people talk it sounds like theyre yelling at me even though they arent etc. But I can't really remember. Mental illness does sort of run in my familly(my aunt) so maybe opiates are triggering it? I dont know..Anyway I just brought it up because I've been having it more often over the past 6 months, and it's ALWAYS triggered by opiates. and once by DXM.

Also, I to not take any medication for this anymore(because Im an addict), but I suffer from generalized anxiety disorder, and IBS. I was on klonopin for a year or so but Im off of it now. My panic / anxiety all started when I started smoking pot daily in highschool. But I've stopped that. anyway...thanks for the response.

Check your dosage, I IV H once every one or two weeks, so I am a casual user, but I noticed that when I do too much, noises are louder, I have racy thoughts, etc. I also feel sick and throw up. I found opiates use is a delicate balance between too much and too little. Also, you should stop using every day, that could cause problems as well. You should try some Xanex and see if that helps, and if it does, get a prescription for it.

I can relate to the shorter amount of sleep part, but the mental stuff ive never experienced. Sounds kinda spooky!

I have a psychotic disorder (Bipolar with Psychosis) and have never had an opioid-induced episode. In fact, I find that opioids ease my psychosis, paranoia, and delusions.

Wow if opiates do that to your head I don't even want to know what psyches will do Haha. Last night I dreamt that I smoked the best heroin I have ever smoked. The guy told me to be really careful and only do half as much as usual. I took the full amount, I swear I remember being sooo high as fuck in my dream last night, it was the same as the real thing haha even tasted the same. But yeah I remember nodding out hardcore in this dream, I kept thinking I was about to stop breathing and OD. HAaha fuck yeah that was a cool dream.

    Thanks for the input.

@polishman..Yeah I think you may be right. I have been abusing H recently. and I really need to stop for a while. It's just hard and honestly the only reason Ive been using recently is to not get sick. So tomorrow Im getting a few suboxones to help me stop. Ive been using almost every day for a few months, and just recently in the last couple weeks these psychotic episodes with noises enhancing, crazy thoughts which enduced a pannic attack have been getting worse. I think Im just over doing it. Messing with your brain chemistry is nothing to play around with..it scares me..

@etk..I think Im going to see a psychiatrist / neurologist soon. I dont think Im bipolar but my aunt is and metal illness does run in my family. But I definately think thses episodes are completely opiate related.

    Thanks guys
