Do you answer the phone to a unknown number?

i dont answer with held numbers, if it is importent they will leave a message, or call me with out withholding the number

i never answer my house phone either, i get to many sales people call LOL, so normally if its a friend or family they will speak on the answer machine, if im in and hear it i will answer before they finish the message

 

i answer unknown numbers, i don't see the problem. any call could be important.

 

I only answer the phone if I feel like doing so. I have an answering machine so if they wish to leave a message they can.

I can hear the recording as it happens so if it is the kids they start out with hey mom and I pick it up.

 

My aunt filters her calls that way...I'll call and start my message with "Damn you for not picking up!" And she grabs the phone immediately. I have fun messing with her answering machine :sunny:

Phone calls are always the last means anyone uses to contact me, so 99.99% of all calls are spam, as discovered by entering every unknown into http://800notes.com/ . Then the numbers go into the "Spam" contact list if they're repeat offenders.

 

Of course I do... why would I have a telephone, if it wasn't so people could call me?

What if my friend is stuck in the middle of nowhere with a dead phone and borrowed one? what if my lawyer or professor is trying to reach me? what if my neighbor wants to borrow a cup o' sugar?

Seriously, I can't see why people don't answer the damn phone. I do NOT leave voice mail if I think someone's ignoring me, it feels like some sort of power play on their part.... I'll just call someone who will answer their shit.

I've had few problems with telemarketers on my cell phone. The one that kept doing it, I put in my contacts, ignored, and they stopped calling in less than a week.

But if they're blocking the number, they can eat shit and die, I won't fall into THAT sort of trap.

 

If it's a legit call, and of any importance they WILL leave a message. If they don't, it must not have been that important to begin with.

I fucking HATE leaving messages, I'll just call back later if someone doesn't pick up. I know lots of others who are the same.

 

If I don't recognize the number I won't answer it.

 

I live alone in an apartment and only have a cell phone. Yet, if an unknown number calls, I NEVER answer it. If they know me or want me that bad, they can leave a voicemail (which, predictably, rarely happens). I also have the bad habit of not answering the phone even if it is people I know. The only people I will always answer the phone for are my parents since there could be some sort of family crisis.

 

if they want to tell you about the family crisis, they had better leave a fucking voice mail.

 

I never answer an unknown caller...its usually a sales call anyway....;-)

 

I do, usually. Just because I wanna know who it is.

Unless it's a restricted number and it's 3am. Then it's one of my exes and I won't answer it.

 

I have a habit of leaving my phone on silent, so I miss calls a lot too. haha. Whether I call them back or not depends on a.)how often they call (If they never call me, it's usually something important) and b.) if I feel like talking to anyone.

However, it also makes my phone a bitch to find when I lose it, and it drives my bf crazy.

No, I only answer the phone for people I know, or local numbers. All others can leave a message and then I will decide if they are important enough to call back.
