apparently that's the case.... My ex works at a hospital, so in that case, I hate hospitals and I NEVER step foot inside one
With all the respect due to you: You're fucking nuts. Not in the "fuck society, we can make things better" kind of way, but the "you should SERIOUSLY be in a straitjacket" kind of nuts.
i too shop at goodwill and always walk out with a deal or two. definitley worth the trip. i've even been able to buy quite a collection of retro-sixties stuff. paisley skye.
I love thrift shops, they're so much fun! My favorite is a small store on St-Laurent blvd, right downtown. The place is filled with vintage clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, jewelry, houseware, they also sell jamaican patties and samosas for 1$ each but the mint tea is free. I also love Value Village, Renaissance and army surplus stores. I bought leather boots, a winter coat and all my camping equipment there, just to name a few. Most of the items are sold as new with huge discounts and being army stuff, it's really good quality.
i personally LOVE buffalo exchange. it's not as cheap as regular thrift stores but they have fantastic stuff due to their standards. I love that you can sell and trade your own clothes, and whatever stuff they don't take they will donate for you. i never take a bag so that i can use the little donate chip.
Most of my clothes are second hand besides being cheaper than the new stuff I don't like the idea of how they a re made in places like India and China for like a $1 per day
Most of the clothes I own are either from thrift shops or hand me downs, and I'm proud of it. In highschool I was the odd kid, always wearing rather quirky clothes, and said clothes were actually quite good quality. I remember one of my mates said she'd rather wear clothes that were "last season" than wear thrift finds Nevertheless, everyone thought my clothes were ok, until they found out where I'd bought them. There are a lot of second hand stores here, and if you know when to check them out, you can find some treasures.
I love thrift stores, sadly we only have goodwill where I am. Which is fine and all but thrift stores are cheaper I find they have better things as well.
Last time I was at the thrift store, I got myself two pentium II IBM thinkpads, between them having a rather decent chunk of parts that I can turn into one with a 360mhz CPU, 288mb ram (after I switch motherboards, right now the one without a damaged screen has a mobo with a bad ram slot), a DVD player, a battery that will go about an hour+ while being used, and a PCMCIA slot so I can do ethernet and maybe wireless. Oh, and I got a gateway flatpannel, with no power cord (but that's easy, considering I got the monitor already) And I got 3 power cords for the 2 laptops, suggesting there had been 3, but I couldn't find the third, it must have been buried. Oh, all these were in the dumpster outside, along with the usual host of working copper-corded appliances that I don't have any room or excuse to take. The most interesting thing inside the store was a batch of studio grade tape casette players.... Oh, and they where all like 80 bucks.... like, are you people stupid? So, now my pentium II is the fastest computer on campus, got it booting damn small linux from RAM, way snappier than anyone's new macbook or dell at shit like opening my word processor, etc.
just found a wonderful embroidered light blue kurta(that fitsssssss!! woohoo!), a cool piece of tie dyed material and a long slip at the thrift shoft! Happy about that! hugs and purrs(Merry is 'helping' me type) Delfynasa and Merry
Thrift stores are wonderful. The last clothes I got were hand-me-downs from a good friend, and some plaid pants I bought for a dollar at a thrift store. Also got a suit-jacket at one, "fanciest" piece of clothing I have. And for another dollar, I bought some white pants, that become my first pair of tie-dye pants My second pair was also from a thrift store, just not a buck. Always an adventure.
I go to goodwill every week haha, i'm obsessed with vintage clothes/items and that's definitely the place to find that sorta stuff!
If someone is embarrassed of you for buying thrift store clothes then they need to re-evaluate what matters and you need to get some better friends! lol
I plan on buying a few dresses, pairs of pants, and, t-shirts at the thrift shop sometime when the winter is over and we no-longer need to buy oil.
