I've got lots of vices - I can't resist opiates, drink when I shouldn't - But not Tobacco. What is the deal with tobacco? I can see weed, or alcohol, or acid, or opiates, or sex - those all give you buzz - a noticeable buzz. If you can - explain to me why you smoke tobacco.

It's kinda a pleasant feeling. A nice little upper to get you through the day.

I don't use it myself other than every now. I've had a lot of chances, and by this point I just think I have a predisposition against being addicted to Nicotine.

Believe me - I'm not condemning anyone for smoking. As Paul says in the Bible "I am the chief amount sinners". My vices probably bring me a lot more grief than yours.

A pack of smokes is a quarter here. It'd be a good time to take it up.

I quit smoking a couple of years ago, but I occasionally like a little dip while working during the summers. Mostly it just gives you something to think about during monotonous 16 hour work days.

I ask my ex-girlfriend this all the time. Why do you partake in what I find to be a disgusting addicting habit. I delt with it, and was around it enough I might as well smoked myself (from the second hand smoke itself).

She ALWAYS claimed that getting cancer from smoking was not because she smoked, but it was inherited down via genetics. That some people smoke there entire life, and never get cancer. Then there's the people that smoke a year and get full blown lung cancer. So she's been convinced that it's not gonna effect her in the grand scheme of things, that she won't get cancer.

Either way, I find it pretty stupid to pick up if you haven't already become addicted to it. Especially after the high school peer pressure phase were so many people start smoking.

That is one of the most unattractive characteristics imo

I started smoking cigs when I was 12 or 13 or so. A little corner store right by the middle school I went to sold cigs to kids so it was easy for us to obtain our own.
At that time, my friends were doing it, and I had a desperate need to fit in and wanted to try everything once anyway. We experimented with all kinds of cigs, a different brand on different days.

I've been able to quit smoking here and there over the years, but never have really stuck with it... I think the longest I ever quit was about a year and a half. Honestly I enjoy smoking. It's perfect for social situations, it relaxes me, and gives me something to do. Parliament Lights is one of God's many gifts to me. However I did promise my fiance and myself that I would quit again after March but with no guarantee how long... I'm planning on shooting for 2 years, but one step at a time, right?

I really enjoy smoking. I'll go 9 or 10 hours some days without even thinking about a cigarette...its just a nice wind down when I get home.

I wish I had your will power. When I smoke, I smoke like a chimney... And lately, maybe because of stress or increasing amount of social activity as of late, I'm up to like almost 2 packs a day. For me its either smoke or don't smoke.

I didn't start smoking until I was 22 years-old when I was at Job Corps. There wasn't anything to do there, except watch tv, play pool, and smoke. I originally started smoking Black & Milds, and I was literally smoking about 25 of them per day because I could get them for free by stealing three or four 25-packs of them everytime I went to the store.

I decided it would be healthier to just start smoking Newports.

asking why we smoke tobacco, is like us asking you why you use opiates. if you don't do it, you don't understand. tobacco isn't for getting a "buzz". it's about relaxation, it's about time filling, it's about boredom...etc

Don't feel bad...when I'm drinking or hanging out with friends I can smoke a whole pack in one evening. Its like I go all day without smoking, and then cram it all into the evenings.

I don't really get bad cravings, even though I've been smoking on and off since I was 13, daily since I was 18. But when I do smoke, I kind of chain smoke.

It started out as pleasant, gave me a funky buzz...Turned into a way to 'relax' and chill out from stress, it's also a great social lubricant, like coffee or alcohol. "Let's go for a smoke," Now after all these years I'm just addicted, lol. But there's a pleasure to it...like any vice I guess.:smoking:
