This is from my spies;) :

Council is at a community in mineral VA near roanoak. The impetus for this council has come from old family councils in NERF, Katuah and Mid-atlantic.
Katuah will have our kitchen set up there the tues. before thanksgiving. The reason we don't have exact directions yet is because the hosting community is concerned about people showing up early without focus before the experience shows up to help provide focus. BRING WARM CLOTHES and BLANKETS. Call 770-662-6112 for dirrections.

    Thanksgiving Council
    >
    >
    >The Mid-Atlantic Rainbow Outreach (MARO), Katuah and NERF families invite all kindred spirits to join us Thursday - Sunday, November 25 - 28, for the annual Thanksgiving Council.
    >
    >This council will focus on the 2005 annual Rainbow Gathering of the Tribes, which will be held in the Mid-Atlantic bio region as consensed upon by Vision Council at the 2004 California Rainbow Gathering.
    >
    >Thanksgiving Council is being hosted at a rainbow-style intentional community in the Piedmont region of Virginia, about an hour from Richmond, VA. If you are flying, the closest airport is Richmond. You could also consider Washington DC airports which are less than 2 hours away.
    >
    >Council will be held in a large tent. If you have access to any tepees or large tarps, please bring these as well as other temporary structures to protect folks against inclimate/cold weather. There will be parking for buses and vans.
    >
    >Bring tents, warm bedding, warm clothes, cup bowl & spoon, toilet paper, and other personal necessities. Please bring lots of food to share, drums, good vibes and a desire to listen and respect the feather. Leave all egos and bad trips down the road.
    >
    >Please do not get to the council site before Wednesday evening, Nov. 24th, as the Katuah Family Kitchen will not be ready to serve until then. Departure time is by Sunday evening because the host community is a working farm.
    >
    >Our hosts, the land stewards, have asked that specific directions not be available on lightlines until Monday, November 22.
    >
    >The lightlines are:
    >
    >MARO - 202 797-3625
    >Katuah/Atlanta Lightline - 770-662-6112
    >NERF - 845-774-4100
    >
    >See you at Thanksgiving Council.

The bulk of the thread cited below contains mostly permit related political rants. The post quoted below contains the most useful information I have about What Went On At Council, although there a couple of others in that thread that are interesting and/or amusing, some of them in a kind of sick way.

No news because, Joan, the scribe has not sent it out.
And no one else has posted. I have been way to busy to give a good
summery of the results and was only in council about 2/3rds of the time
(i was cooking for some of it).

In general we had a great get together with Katuah doing kitchen and
Nerf contributing an amazing huge tent for us. The community we were in
were wonderful hosts and we all enjoyed learning and sharing with each
other. We hope to continue this connection with
Katuah/Nerf/Acorn/Granola funk doing kitchens near each other this year.
An eastern cooridore if you will.

We started a bank with four people on it. Horse, Joane, and a few
    others who I don't know.
Scout Rendevueze was decided on for April 1st at a location near Floyd
VA on private land. Most of the early scouting effort seems to be on WVA
and Western VA. There was pretty adimite feelings against anything
    much further north or south.

The Yo Mammas crew came in large numbers ready and wanting to scout.
They are inexperienced in scouting and are soliciting help in learning
how to scout. Hopefully some teaching can go on and help these kids
contribute. They were a wonderful addition to the council in so many ways.

I spoke about water issues. As in the pipe is out west and won't make
it. The eastern pipe is about 1/10th what we need so we need to raise
$$$ for pipe and/or get kitchens to each bring 1000' or so (along with
    hardware to connect it).
I'm also worried about the impact of the after Ocalla crowd staying east
till national. Here in Asheville this is a big issue. Hopefully a
kitchen can come to take care of them until the national.

I wouldn't call Scout Rendezvous a "Gathering" so much as I would call it "an assembly of folks with vehicles, equipment, and resources sufficient to spend the next several weeks moving around in the forest".

Well Great Anyway.... I haveto be a part of this as I doubt I will be able to attend any of the real gatherings for many years since they are always far away and I never have the freedom or money to travel the way I need to.
Can you tell me how to get the details: ie: where in Floyd and when etc?

Oh wow, I can't believe I didnt see this thread till now before I shot my mouth off in the other thread.
Perhaps I might attend. I've wanted to scout for years, and West Virginia seems like an interesting place to explore in the spring.

i can name a few place that can handle 25,000+ ppl. check out the williams river/ canberry river(glades) area. at the head of those to 2 rivers, u are in the heart of the allgeney mts. closes town is about 1 hr to 1 1/2 . you are near major roads. and also to the scouts who are looking in wv. i can help out with places to stay. there is a place that has kitchen and cabins to stay in. and i am only like 3 miles from interstate 79. and this is a hippy friendly area also.
