No-one started a thread on this one yet? I just watched it, fucking awesome film. 10/10. I'm sitting here with a lump in my throat. Now I know what life is like for all you hillbillies. Black Swan can fuck off this is my pick of the oscars this year.
The trailer does look good :2thumbsup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bE_X2pDRXyY"]YouTube - WINTER'S BONE - Official US Theatrical Trailer in HD Hotwater
I liked Winter's Bone. Very depressing film topped off with depressing and dull color theme used throughout the film very well. I definitely didn't feel that Jennifer Lawerence was oozing sex during this film, as her character isn't really supposed to. I also don't believe she deserved her Oscar nom, I felt like maybe she was bit miscast and another actress could have played her part better. However, although not exactly the definition of sexy, Dale Dickey absolutely nailed her role and couldn't be more deserving of the awards she brought home for her performance for this film during this award season.
great movie....the hills of lanark ,where i live, has lots of gun toting 'farmers' just like the good ol boys in that movie...and their wives are just like the wives in the movie too
It was refreshing how the actors showed their ugliness, down to the Bone, you might say. That's so rare in american film. It's a good film, just maybe a little too self-satisfied in its anti-hollywood gloominess. The plot and characters weren't anything extraordinary. 7/10
I thought she and the other actors did a good job. There are plenty of people like those shown. They don't mess around. You don't want to make a wrong turn in LA or Detroit and end up in gang territory. Same thing in Tennesee and elswhere. When I worked in Florida,a country man I worked with lined his dogs up and shot them all when his neighbor told him his dogs had killed a bunch of his chickens. Just like that. They're usually uneducated, can live off the land and do not put up with outsiders. I think they showed that pretty well in the movie.
No doubt the reality of the film was spot on. I believe that's one of the reasons my fiance had a difficult time with this movie... He's from the mountains of Eastern Kentucky and actually found this film "a bit too real" for his tastes.
I agree with wayne and garth...LOL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwDARPvwxrE"]YouTube - Wayne's World - 2011 Sketch - Saturday Night Live
