So what do you want to do with your life. Yea you don't like where your at. It may suck. But you've got a roof over your head, food, and hopefully a good family. It could be a lot worse. Take some time-figure out what's next. Enjoy that you have some time to figure that out. Seems like you've learned some things about yourself and maybe understand yourself more than most people your age and maybe more than most people. You could get a job and move out. But if you can take some time, save some money, and then move out. Enjoy that you can take some time and figure out what's next.
Don't listen to the naysayers. Everyone is at a different point in life and people have a hard time remembering they were once there, or understanding they just have yet to live your experience. I find so little can be done surfing the net, reading, etc. ACTION is what's necessary. Travel, but with your own money. Move, and engage yourself. Life is cyclical. What might be ideal for 5 years, will turn to boredom so suddenly. You are normal.
I agree. the only way people have any information at all is because we did stuff. this applies to anything. for example there are various types of situation a person could get themselves into. those situation wouldn't exist if people just sat around all day in a catatonic/antisocial like manor. people got up and did shit and learned right from wrong! then they taught their kids right from wrong and the kids didn't listen so they went out and found out for themselves to! get up and do shit bro. waste your time on the internet once you have your shit straight. if it's sooooo important to you, you should be busting you ass looking for available jobs!
OK, what does everyone have against the suburbs? is it just jealousy? I mean the suburbs are spacious, pretty, priveleged, and everything in general is a little bit nicer. The people are more articulate, intelligent, and yes, materialistic, but they have the means to be. Im a motherfucking materialist too, but Im poor ass in the hood. How many suburbanites do you think are paying over 50-60% of their income for rent/mortgage/utilities? I could do that too, but i feel way more comfortable keeping it around the 30% range. That gives me room to be a money blower when I feel the need. In the suburbs I dont have to worry about getting my ass kicked because of my skin color. (yes, i went there, cuz its true).
Nothing to do there constantly getting the cops called on me getting thrown out of every single store no one at all that even remotely thinks like me or understands me no plants broken glass on every sidewalk every day. seriously, one day I went around cleaning it up off every street and the next day it was all back in almost the exact same spots Tons of d-bags tons of annoying judgmental highschool kids having to drive to get anywhere at all all the plants that ARE there are sprayed with nasty poison wiggers traffic when an elementary school lets out nasty water everything smells like cigarettes how they take towns that you were fond of once and build houses everywhere churches...nuff said no bike lanes shitty public transport in general nothing that's free and fun sometimes, the air is brown roadkill creepy silent hill lighting at night door to door sales people door to door religious people door to door anything pamphlets that people leave on your door I could list more but I'm tired, might add later
do you really have room to rail against making assumptions here? most of this exists in both the city and the country as well. and some of it is blatantly false regarding suburbs; suburbs are the only places that normally do have bike lanes for example.
I don't know what suburb you're talking about, but it sounds to me like they need a city planner and some street maintenance?
I think many people are quick to criticize others but more reluctant to accept criticism of themselves. Many of the people who have taken shots at you here would probably see things differently if they were in your shoes. Do you think that you could be depressed? This could be part of why you feel like you don't have direction. Is there someone at Yeshiva that you know that could give you some wise council? I wonder if there is a way that you could participate in the community there while being a non-believer. It could be that you would be happiest in Israel?
I am in similar shoes; I think him and I are spoiled. I don't know his excuse, but I just can't seem to get myself moving. I mean, I quit smoking cold turkey, got addicted to caffeine, quit that cold turkey -on my first try, I'm on the Dean's list, even get good grades in online classes which are self-monitored. But I just can't motivate myself to job search. (Though I finally started a resume last night, after signing up for a job search site about a month ago.) If I get myself a job, I'll come back here and tell him how I did it.
I'm with you on this one. We have real nice suburbs around here; but we also have ones that are worse ghettos than the city ones. Every meth lab I've ever heard of in this area was in a suburb.
Truth is we are all slaves. A slave with a Lexus is no different than a slave with a Ford Escort. This is of no substance and is probably humorous to our masters. Though, those who finish first, finish last. Those who finish last, first.
What interests you the most? What are your passions? What inspires you? Close out the voices around you and listen to yourself. When I need direction in life, I ask myself, what path will bring me peace? Follow your bliss. You're not spoiled unless you enjoy taking advantage of your situation. From what you've said, you are more than willing to give it up for a different path so I wouldnt call you spoiled. You just need to figure out what matters most to you and move forward.
