what if our planet was being watched by life of other planets and what if they have from the beginning of life on earth and we're kind of like their science experiment to see what we do to crash and burn. what if there was news on another planet talking about how earthlings are destroying ourselves, etc. what if they had instruments that were so beyond our ability to grasp...

Wouldn't change much, except if the purpose of their observations is to intervene before we kill ourselves as a whole. That probably depends on how entertaining other creatures in the universe are
Being cognizant of an outside observer watching us would likely alter how many conduct themselves and spoil the study. This is akin to the folly of a religiously indoctrinated individual altering behavior ONLY because he thinks "God is watching" and not as a reflection of any real personal/spiritual growth. We should act in response to our own interests and not play to an audience that may or may not exist. IF we were being studied by an alien race and they became aware that we were on to them they might scrap the experiment and destroy the earth as well as the human race in order to start the experiment over with fresh humans... or whatever incarnation the entities are to be.
I think it could be really interesting for the observing alien race to see what happens after we found out about them. I mean, we can't nuke them (yet).
