A good friend of mine did acid twice in January 2011 (This was his first time ever). He did acid in capsule form- Idk if you all have heard of it coming in this form before, Im sure you have. Each capsule contained 2 hits- He took them on seperate occasions about a week apart I wanna say.. But what Im worried about is the long-term effects its had on him. He now believes that he knows legitimatly EVERYTHING.. Yes, every bit of information ever thought of or created, he thinks he knows. (Which he obviously does not, he has been wrong about several things while telling me what hes been thinking about... Of course I did not say otherwise for I fear he will go off on me). He has some realllly out there ideas... And I know its supposed to "open your mind" and "change your life"... But I think this has gone too far. My friend thinks he can do things like teleport (Me and another friend are worried he may have blacked out or something as a side effect of the acid and ended up somewhere else in the house, not remembering, he assumed it was "teleporting"... But thats just an idea), read minds, collect information from peoples life energy, as well as go into dream worlds/other peoples dreams (like the movie Inception). He also believes in a bunch of voodoo stuff now, as well as thinking that corn (yes, corn) is grown from the remains of dead bodies and peoples blood. He says that this corn is put in lots of food items in stores... He now believes the fbi is after him. Why? Because "the fbi knows he took the acid and knows he posseses all this information".. Theyre trying to "get him" because he knows all this. He also thinks that the government regulates the acid... After I told him this was impossible for them to do so on every account, he changed his mind and said that his came from "a mad scientist somewhere". He thinks that the government made Pluto not a planet anymore because theres aliens or something on it.... All of this is also rather annoying to hear, as you can imagine. My friend was already a hot headed individual, but now its a thousand times worse. Although he has turned into somewhat of a better person it seems.. He used to be horribly mean to me, very judgemental, and would argue over anything. Now hes very calm for the most part when hes talking to me and always wants to share thoughts with me or have me tell him some thoughts of my own. Im not saying this part of his change is a bad thing, but if it all comes at the price of him "knowing everything", then I wish he could just go back to the way he was. I no longer hang out with him mostly because this has all become too overwhelming. But hes also a very bad influence on me drug wise, Ive been trying to stop my drug use for a while now. Could someone tell me if this is normal? I just want to help him if I can, and if I cant I would like to know if hes going to stay like this forever. I dont think that he did enough acid to say so.. Or for him to be acting like this.. So Im very confused. My friend was only 18 at the time, btw. Thanks, Summer
First off it sounds like your friend didn't take acid but instead took a research chemical of some sort. If you friend was sorta mean and is now sorta annoying i would just tell him/her what is on your mind and that they need to stop thinking irrationally. If they don't wanna grow up i would say to get a new friend. This one seemed crazy from the start.
I agree with Alex, what your friend took was definitely NOT acid but most likely a research chemical. Remember to stick with a trusted source and do your research on any chemical before you take it. Erowid.org has a wealth of knowledge and insight and of course this forum is a wonderful place to ask questions if your a noob. Pretty much all psychedelic compounds could possibly bring out mental disorders that are lurking in a person's soul. Honestly though it sounds like your friend had an enlightening experience, however he is young... kids that age think they know everything anyway. This, IMHO, doesn't sound to out of the ordinary. His mind has been expanded, and now he realizes anything is possible.
Something you should all know, if you're ever given acid in capsules, it's not acid. It's some research chemical. Your friend took some research chemical and had a psychotic break. It happens. It certainly was not LSD though.
Any mind altering substance can act like a catalyst and trigger an underlying mental illness. That doesn't mean the drug caused the mental illness, it just means it speeded up its onset.
Thanks everyone- It didnt seem right to me.. I have been looking up long-term side effects of acid and I just couldnt find anything similar to what was happening.. Thats why I asked on here. So do you think I should tell him or just.... Leave him alone? Haha. And oh, I forgot to mention that hes also been EXTREMELY paranoid since he took it. Im sure thats a normal side-effect of this research chemical or w.e it is tho.
Yeah, I was going to say.. sounds like classic paranoid schizophrenia and illusions of grandeur. Just fallout from a weird trip. It's most likely temporal, and will fade with time.
Paranoid delusions IMO, I would advise him against doing anymore, doesn't sound like it mixes very well with him.
sounds like LSD with a strong ego intact after it has been destroyed. i won't go into detail but he's just taking things out of perspective thats all. i wouldn't worry about him too much. give him a book like the bhagavad gita or "Zen mind, Beginners Mind" and he'll understand
yea it sounds like he just had a rather psychotic reaction to whatever it was that he took. it's pretty unlikely that what he got in that capsule was lsd, but it could have been. i had a friend that had reactions similar to this once. except instead of experiencing it in such a broad manner like your friend he experienced it through a more judeo-christian fashion. he thought he was jesus, thought he could fly, etc. after a year or two he finally chilled out a bit and stopped thinking he was jesus and had superpowers. but he was still a totally different person afterwards. i actually like him better now though, he's a much kinder and open minded person. he swore off all drugs after his trip. so it would probably be a good idea for your friend to sober up. give it some time and he'll chill out eventually. be rational with him. like, if he is telling you something that is irrational then forumlate arguements that disprove what he is saying. use logic. even though he might be kinda annoying for a while, you should try to stay with him. having a psychotic break and then losing all your friends would probably just make things worse. but ultimately it's up to him in the long run.
'dots DO exist.... Not that he got them.... Whatever was in the cap, there was not two hits, sounds like the "doublestack" marketing ploy with e (ie. pay me double price for one hit with a little free placebo) Sounds like it could have been legit acid, but whatever he took he has a problem, and the problem isn't the drugs (anymore). Some people are SO locked into sobriety that tripping can do this kind of thing, and some people can have it trigger mental problems. He sounds like he's showing paranoid schizophrenic behavior, to me. He shouldn't trip or do any drugs, you should gently correct his claims with logic unless he's distressed by it, in which case it would be best pursued later. Has he become much of a shut in? avoids human contact, etc?
I'd tell him "You need to lay off the drugs bro." He'd probably laugh and soon after tell him "I'm serious man. (This shit's/You're gettin ate up)" Not the gentlest way to tell someone, but it gets the point across that you see something that they don't at the moment. Don't try to hurt his feelings or "mindfuck" him if an argument sprouts up unless it's a fun type of convo. That's a tricky situation... I'd just come right out and say what's on my mind in a formal convo. Let him know you need to talk about some stuff, let out what's been ailing you and try to end on a happy note. Sometimes it seems there's not much you can do, but it never hurts to offer a helping hand. If you feel his vibes or his influence is too much, create a little distance. But still, check on him from time to time. I'm sure he'll be alright. There are just some things that take some time for our human minds to grasp.
You should show him the movie "a beautiful mind" while tripping. Just kidding. This kind of thing happens on high doses of psychedelics to a rare, select few that push the envelope. Sometimes a permanent change in personality manifests complete with delusions. I had a buddy that got accidentally dosed with too much p. torch extract by his girl. Now he is a completely different person. He goes around talking about his meeting with God, and other crazy shit to random people now and has outbursts of "out there" ramblings. Some close friends are taking care of him right now trying to get this fool to chill out. Good thing he swore off all drugs.
this happened to a friend of mine too, although not quite as strongly as with yours. he started thinking he had the power to hypnotise people and thought we were communicating telepathically. he ended up thinking my friends and I were literally getting inside his head and planting thoughts. he continued taking drugs and he went down a long, lonely, and destructive road. I won't tell you how the story ends but it is important your friend doesnt take any more drugs until he's voodoo'd his way back out. 3-6 months sobriety and it's likely he'll have retained all the insights and none of the delusions.
