I do believe we should plan one :)
I think it'd be pretty awesome to plan a really crazy fun kinda festival where just a whole bunch of people come and hang out, do gatherings and maybe listen to music. Anyone wanna help me plan it? The downside is it'd have to be in Nebraska, eastern Iowa, or somwhere close otherwise I couldn't go. Do eet? I think so

Events and Festivals are no easy or cheap task. I've been in event production since I was your age and the first few times I fell on my ass hard and lost a lot of $$$.

Other members of this forum have been talking about a meet up at one of the festivals this year. My crew is doing an event in Illinois called Underground Sound, which might be close enough to you so that you can attend. The information for the event is posted on this section.

sweet. i'll look into it. I just think it'd be cool to get a bunch of people together like that, and if enough people pitch in it might not cost copious amounts of money that I don't have :D

I hope that I didn't sound discouraging. I think it's great that you are interested in planning an event. I threw my first event at 16. Once the night began, I realized I was a bit in over my head... However, It was a huge learning experience. What I'm trying to tell you is that it takes much more money than you might think. It's definitely important to map out the finiancial aspect of it first and lock down a venue... Financial backers are always a plus. If your truly into doing event planning, start with something small so that you can get a feel of everything it takes to run an event and actually get people to spend money to get there. I hope you can make it to Underground Sound. =D

Good advice. I shall start small and plan a somewhat large party type thing (which sounds contradicting) and go from there. I checked out the info on Underground Sound :)
    Seems pretty AWESOME!

My friends and I do this. The last few summers we've been having a few festivals a year on a small stage we built, this year we're building an ampitheatre, and next year we're going to find look into renting an outdoor venue. Definitely start with more of a party, its much less stress than something on a large scale but also gives you an idea of what it takes to run an event. So far we've leared that anything and everything can go wrong with the equipment right before the festival, underage kids are sneaky little bastards, and that some cops actually are capable of walking into a weird woodland area full of tripping hippies and not being debbie downers.

edit: No offense with the underage comment, I just noticed you were underage lol. Those same cops that were pretty cool about our festival would have been total dicks if they saw we were letting underage kids drink there. thats why I said that.

No, underage kids are sneaky bastards. I know because i go to high school :D Although, I don't think I could get away with drinking... Most people say I look about 14, but some people think I look 18.
And I wanna meet the non-debbie downer cops :O
