On a scale from one to ten, how well do you believe Obama has done his job for serving the American people? Also leave a comment explaining your opinion. And if you're going to just a comment flaming by just name dropping than please don't bother, i want this to be a discussion, not a spam board. I chose an eight because thanks to his health care bill he passed i was able to get on my moms health insurance and go get medicine for verious health problems i've been having for the last too years. There's other reasons too but i'm eating a cheeseburger and watching SeaNanners so i'll name them later if no one else does.
i'm pretty worn out by the broken promises glad for your health care, haven't seen any myself might be the fed pot raids here a couple of days ago, but i've had it
He's attempting to fix a mess. For that I give him respect, however he could have done a lot more. I agree on the compromises as well.
Obama tried real hard to pass the health care bill, and I have to give him a lot of credit for that-even though the Repukeacrats did everything they could to derail the bill (there still aren't cost controls on premiums because of that, which could screw up the whole thing). He hasn't done nearly enough to help the process along in the Middle Eastern countries that are having democratic revolutions-he should have sent a special envoy to Egypt and a few other countries to help the sides negotiate a solution. On top of that, he sent the Secretary of Defense the other day to Bahrain to tell the royal family that we're on their side-what a lot of crap. He supposedly supports these democratic revolutions except in countries that are oil rich that we already have real good relationships with-then he switches sides. He didn't deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.
So far, he's done jack shit to combat what the far Right is doing. I had hoped to be voting for a president with balls. That and the Guantanamo thing. All of those fun things Georgie said weren't happening at Gitmo, despite all of the proof? Obama officially ordered them done last week. Nice, huh?
I feel pretty much the same as above. He needs to stop trying to bring republicans to the table and say "Fuck you, i'm doing what's right".
As much as I admire and respect the man I believe he needs to stop bending so easily and get more agressive with the obnoxious republicans
I think he has tried on most of these promises - and accomplished a lot. Yes he did do healthcare - at least began it. The prez ain't as powerful as people think. Still - I only give him a 6.
he's having some great parties at the white house. But I'm amazed somewhat in his ability to do nothing.
it was a losers election, look at what a state the world is in economically, politically, agriculturally etc. people can complain, but it's the long term solutions that need to be resolved now, not the short term adhering to short terms demands is what got everyone into so much trouble in the first place. i commend his position, it's not an easy one.
The obama administration has me convinced now that it no longer matters who is in office. The same plan continues without our (the people) decision in any matter.
Health Care reform, Tax credit to offset tuition costs, tripling the size of AmeriCorps, equal pay act for women, expanded loan program for small businesses, expanded pell grant for low income students, increased wind power 40% through stimulus, cut drug prices by 50% for medicare recipients, removed bans on stem cell research and supported new biomedical research, spending and tax incentives for renewable and green energy. Best president in 50 years.
If I were to believe the conservatives, I would think Obama was simultaneously (1) doing everything in his power to destroy the country by passing stimulus legislation, revamping banking regulations, having the federal government buy toxic assets, redefining federal policy on abortion funding and stem cell research, negotiating with our enemies, and devaluing the dollar, while at the same time (2) doing absolutely nothing.
I give him a 4-6 depending on the issue. I don't feel he's creating any "change" just keeping the status quo. We need a president with a new point of view who is going to do something different for the American people. I got pissed off when he gave tax cuts to the rich! I mean so what if taxes would've increased for all classes if he wouldn't have done that. At least that would've helped the deficit! His healthcare plan I don't even know what the hell that is about. I've heard so many mixed explanations about it and don't have the time to read the whole giant bill. I do know that it has actually caused my mother to pay more in medical expenses so I don't think it's helped with lowering costs. The Libya war or whatever he chooses to call it is ridiculous. This is foreign military operation #3 I mean if you look at history the fall of the Roman empire was caused not only by economic decline but also an overstretched military. It's not a good idea at all. And who's to say after we help get rid of Gadafi or however u spell it the people wont get pissed at us for leaving them without protection? I mean we did this when we helped the Afganis fight the Soviets and then when we left Bin Laden demonized us and used it as fodder to recruit his terrorists. I haven't a clue who's going to run against him in 2012 but I really hope that someone will challenge him even if it's going against their party. We need people to stop being so loyal to their party and start doing things for the people! That's my 2 cents.
