    Just FYI...

I've discovered that taking a dip in the ocean really does wonders for me and my dreadlock journey!!! I haven't washed my hair in about 2 weeks but I do take a dip in the ocean at least three times a week and then let my hair dry naturally without rinsing the sea water off with clean water. Ill do the Bicarb wash once a month now and continue with my ocean swims every week and then see what happens.
Anyone else have any experiences with doing what I'm doing right now? Your responses would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx for the input and thanx for listening. :)

I took a dip in the sea with my last set of dreads.
It was a nice swim! I deliberately soaked them too, can't remember if I noticed any effect

i'm curious about this too... i just moved to the west coast and am impatiently waiting for summer to roll around so i can play in the sea..
you should do up some pictures so if there is any physical difference we can watch :)

@ Jimbo: My dreads are still fairly new so I think it would have more of an effect on new dreads as opposed to mature ones.

@ newleaf: I'll definitely get picture up soon.

The difference isn't vast; but I'm sure that in time its gna show very good results.
PS: this sure as hell beats spraying sea salt mixed with warm water and lemon juice onto your head. Whatever that does. Lol.

LD, i have to disagree ... and i'm sure there are those that will disagree with me

I found that the sea really is super duper if some matting of the hair has already taken place; but the quickest, natural way that happens is when the hair is clean, dry and covered by wool ...no violent ocean currents :)

However, some people just can't saty out the ocean for a few months; i can respect that, i'm from the coast too.

@ Don: I find that the sea water leaves my hair with a different texture once dry and that seems to helping. I dunno. My scalp doesn't get dandruff so I'm not worried about that. Aslo, I can tell when my hair is really dirty and that's when my scalp gets this layer of, what I call "scalp jizz" lol :) and after my ocean wash the jizz is gone and hair feels squeeky clean. Lile I said, I will do the Bicarb wash once a month.

@ Glen: I haven't given the wool sweater over my pillow a try yet but will hop right on that tonight when I go to bed.

Anyway... I plan on going to the ocean later today again for a swim.

    Love your replies guys!

@ Don: I didn't even know about a Rasta fest in Paarl over Easter. I have some family and friends living in and around Paarl so maybe I'll decide to visit them for the weekend and then check out the fest while I'm there.
