They do kinda look greasy on the pics you're right! Maybe its the camera flash and the bad lighting in the house. These pics were all taken on the same day. First the ocean pic and then later that evening when my hair was dry I took the other pics. I do tend to play with my hair a lot and end up twirling them without even being aware that I'm doing it. I've been trying to stop myself from doing that lately.:2thumbsup: Anyway, I'm only at about month 2.2 now so lets see what happens from here on out. I was very excited about getting some Dr. Bronner's from a friend of mine who is in the States ATM but he couldn't find any at his local Wallmart! So it's Baking Soda wash for me from here on.
They do look pretty twisted, but even when they don't twist at all some curly hair will form locks composed of coils. Probably dependant on texture/friction and curl diameter. But twisted or otherwise, I like em. Going to let em' congo?
Congo's are a big no no! I dont like the look of them. I try and separate/section them off after each wash in order to avoid some from joining. I've recently started sleeping in and wearing a wool beanie whenever I get the chance to. So I pretty much wear it for about 16 hours a day. The only time I haven't been wearing it is when I get to work. Lets see what this does. I believe its supposed to help with the dreading/knotting process??? HELP???!!!???
I think you're worrying too much. Just don't do anything. Ripping leads to more ripping, because the recently ripped zones tangle back up even faster. Try going a week or two, then ripping. Then go a month. You have months before a congo is locked in for good, ripping all the time just causes damage to your hair/locks, and will in the long run lead to club shaped locks with little roots.
Here's a pic taken outside. This should show more of what it really looks like?? Lemme know. I appreciate the criticism and advice!:2thumbsup:
I used to wash my hair once every two weeks in the beginning. I've only recently started ripping. I also found that I can now wash my hair more often without worrying about the locks coming out. I've decided to wash my hair once a week now and thanx to your advice, I will hold back on the separating. What exactly does the wool beanie do? Many people have given the wool beanie as advice to others on HF so I thought I'd give it a go. Thanx for the responses man!:2thumbsup:
***EDIT*** I'm currently at about 3.5 months ATM. I kept on thinking that we are still in February month. Also... I just checked my first pics and my hair sure has gone puffier since then.
Update: Almost 7 months of locking. I only palm roll on occasion when they start looking way too messy.
Gained some crazy length at the back of my head over the last year or so. The dreads at the back of my head hang almost in the middle of my back. Patiently waiting on the dreads on the top of my head to start catching up:mickey:
Hey dread buddies. It's been too long. It's been 5 years, this month, since I last had a haircut. My dreads are coming along awesomely. They're halfway down my back now. Will post an update soon.
