The amount of "gunk" that came out of my hair after the BC wash was amazing! I truelly had no idea that my hair could have been THAT dirty and that simple BC could get it out! Amazing stuff this BC!:2thumbsup:
Out of curiosity - does anyone know can BC wash affect the colour of dyed hair? Probably a silly question, but don't know much about dyes and I just did my dreads red... Don't want it to get all "washed out" if I use BC now, esp. since red colours are not super permanent anyway. But in the same time would like to get stuff out of my dreadies if sth is stuck there.
I have my moments. Don't feel stupid, feel foolish! :biggrinjester: Like I said, it's where it's at. What were you washing with before? A lot of the 'gunk' you speak of could have been built up shampoop residues.
Ive looked around for residue free shampoo where I live but cant seem to find so I've been using normal store bought "dread shampoo". This shampoo didnt feel any different to what I was using before so I'm not sure if they are just bottling normal shampoo and labeling it as dread shampoo. I always look at the label and the ingredients of these "dread shampoos" which claim to be organic and stuff... and the make up of them doesnt sound that organic to me... Maybe I'm just too skeptical thinking that everyone is out to make a quick buck and way they can. On the other hand... a friend of mine is in the States ATM and will be bringing me some Dr. Bronner's when she gets back to SA.
LD, when you are in Mowbray again head to the Durban Rd intersection ... the third shop on the corner of the 'shops side' of the road is called 'Mystic Dread', it's owened by a Rasta couple named Biljeez and Isaac ... they have the best shampoos in the world, no kidding.
OMW... You're from The Mother City too!!!:groupwave:I think I may have driven past that place a few weeks ago. Then name sounds familiar. Is it kind of opposite Mowbray Library?
I have had my dreaddies for 4.5 years now! I started mine using bee's wax, twisting, and back-combing. Although many people do not believe in waxing I have had few problems with my dreaddies. Never any mold or anything. Dreadheadhq.com is a good site for starting kits, shampoos, and other dreaddy goodies! A little bit pricey, but the shampoo lasts for a couple months, depending on how frequently you wash em. I usually only wash mine once every 5-7 days. I suppose over waxing could be a problem, but it has never been one for me. I did use it more often when I first started my dreads, now I only do so once a month maybe. It does not break your hair like people believe, yet it strengthens and mosturizes them in a sense, why else would people use it. Sorry this was such a ramble, but good luck with your journey! They are definately lovely, but the beginning requires patience. :daisy:
LOL, nah, i'm the same SA dude that posted here a few weeks back. Ja, that's the one, opposite the library, so maybe the 4th shop from the corner, or is it 3rd? ... anyway, uggh, sorry it's called Indigenous Dread, not Mystic Dread ... dohh
On my way home last night, right after I posted my above reply to you, I remembered that you are that guy! I need to go right an exam at Blackriver Park next week and will then pop around to that store! Thanx dude!
I took these pics a few weeks ago. I'd say they are about 2.5 months in at that time. PS: I hate taking pics of myself. Never sure if I should smile or not. LOL
Love The Pic On The Beach, Your A Wild Looking Boy...:hide:. *note to self, next time i go to a south african beach do not kick sand in this mans face* Cheers Glen.
Thats the first time I've gotten that! Hey... Next time you visit a SA beach... let me know and we could party Cape Town style!:2thumbsup:
they look like you twist them nonstop, and in doing so they collect grease from your fingers and look really greasy
