    PJ Crowley, the State Department spokesman who has been very visible lately has just resigned due to his calling the Pentagon's treatment of whistleblower Bradley Manning "stupid". He said the way the Pentagon has handled Manning's detainment is "ridiculous and counterproductive and stupid."

    Bradley Manning is being held prisoner by the military under harsh conditions after allegedly releasing state department documents and videos to Wikileaks.

    Obama made this statement;

    “With respect to Private Manning, I have actually asked the Pentagon whether or not the procedures that have been taken in terms of his confinement are appropriate and are meeting our basic standards. They assure me that they are."

    Isn't that like asking the fox if the chickens are safe?

    i have yet to see all of this 'proof' that Manning released anything. so far, all i've seen is the implied 'guilt'.

    look up the definition of 'scapegoat'. the government is good at finding one or more for any situation.

    Sounds like it.

    "oh, well, as long as you're sure torture is appropriate for a national hero... just checking..."

    Come on, like the military has ever lied about anything.

    I hope we get some good news soon - far too many people have already put Manning at the back of their minds.

    i was thinking about this...if they have him 'on release of state secrets', what might those state secrets be? i'm presuming this is under the UCMJ...but, is it 'national security', such that the charges themselves are not being released? otherwise, a writ of habeas corpus might have been effective? goes to show...the opinions of state department personnel of other national diplomats should never be recorded, as they form a threat to national security.

    i think of all the egg on the face these government goons have had in the last two decades, and i am flummoxed as to what he could possibly have done to deserve this.
