Yup, that's the question. Was wondering what kind of homes we have all decided to live in as hippys. Or would like to live in. I've lived in a lot of country homes. Had one that looked like the three bears lived there. It was brown with two bedrooms. Pretty much handmade, you might say. My husband and I put ourselves into it, tearing down walls and making our windows bigger, since were big fans of the good ole out doors. Someday, I would love to live in a bus, and make it a fine cozy home. I knew of a couple where I lived on Kauaii who lived in a tree. They actually started with one room and built on as time and money permitted. That would be cool too. They ended up with a five room tree house. They had no trouble staying warm since they lived on the island of Kauaii where it is warm 98 percent of the time. So, what do you live in????????
you spark an interesting question, I would love to live in a tree. Traditioal housing has gone through the roof literally.
I live in a 2-bedroom bungalow. It was built in the 1920s and was used by migrant farm hands as a place to crash and to store crops (there is a basement room). A livingroom, kitchen and tiny utility room have been added. It also has a front porch. I'd love it to be a turn of the century Craftsman cottage. But then again, I'd also love to have half a million in a diversified portfolio. I'm a student now and have dreamed of finding a good architect/designer who could work up real plans for making this place attractive and liveable. I'm sure one day such a person will show up. Hope I'm around when he gets here
intersting sig you got there duncan i live in a room with my daughter...in my parents two story "new" colonial.
This is a great question...I'm currently living in a two bedroom apt. with my lovable little cat, and sweet as can be puppy, but I want to buy a house in the country as soon as possible...I was raised in the country in a house surrounded by 5 acres of woods...want to replicate that as soon as I can...such a wonderful, beautiful retreat for me...Oh yeah...
Larry and I have been building our place for 3 years now...pic in my gallery. Its getting ready to be at almost 1200 sq.ft. on 8.5 acres. We have just dug our deep well and bought the new pump Saturday. We will be pouring the pad for it and then moving on to adding the last room (I hope) which will be our recording studio. We have a compost toilet, and use some solar. We also heat with wood. And have very thick walls with quite a bit of insulation in them, the floor and the ceiling. We have a small greenhouse. Most of our house is built with salvaged materials, and oak slabwood which we recut and planed. He lived in a tipi at Earth Peoples Park when I met him in 1970 and our dream was to get back to being close to the land. Now wez doin it... teepi
We live in an old what use to be called "shotgun' house. It was moved here in the 30's as a four room house with a hall from front to back(no bathroom) We bought it in 1989. The house has been added on to and a bathroom was built in the middle room the kitchen was extended and a dinning room added with huge windows surrounding the whole house. The front proch is now my office, the back porch is now a laundry room and we added a room to the back of it. The Attic is now one huge room with a bathroom and shower. We built on a front deck and back porch. All together there is four bedrooms and a loft in my office I think it's 32,000 sq.foot now and we are done adding on. The house on 8.5 acers. We have an Orchard with peaches, apples, pears, apricot, and plums. We have mostly pasture land for the animals we raise and the gardens but there are woods all around us. We have a water well and three ponds for the livestock. Like Teepi, I'd like to go solar and live off the grid and out from under the Man. As soon as they legalize marijuana it will be a perfect world. Blessed Be
Marcel and I live in a one bedroom apartment facing a golf course... we have a huge, private balcony which allows us to continue our nudist lifestyle, even in the middle of the big city. We just have to watch out for occasional golfers on the greens. *giggle*
AWE! That rocks! I didn't know you and Marcel were. But I know exactly where you're talking about. They have a great July Fourth fireworks show at the course.
i have come to love my house thee days, realy truning into a home. I live in a old flood comunity known as "The Colony" by the locals. I built a house years ago on the other side of the river, I can stil see it this time of year when I am driving around the bend. Small, warm, comfortable, sloly getting fixed. Will not live here forever, but will not sell it either. have some other houses, as that is my business. but now with my dogs, son and lover here this is a true home
I was living in a hollow tree in the woods above Santa Cruz until 3 weeks ago when the park ranger got me. Now I'm camping next to the river up in the mountains.
Your my kind of nakid ape......I had a friend in Vermont we called nakid J. He went around nakid and when it was chilly he had a yellow blanket he would wear...a kid of very few words... Years later Larry went back up for a park reunion and there was J, with pants and a shirt on...Larry didn't recognize him until he said hello.
My house is a very, very nice house, with two cats in the yard, a kid, and an Aussie dog. and hot damn, my photo was too big; I'll have to try it again sometime.
i live in a two up two down.apart from damp on walls (nice patterns in da winter tho)..........its a spiritual peacefull home...........saying that ....hope to be moving soon...................peace . ps........would ya/as think this would be spacey enough.
Hate to have to dust all those rooms.....or have to do anything else to them...just when you finished you'd have to start all over...but I guess if you could afford to live there you could afford to hire a maid. I'm so poor my last job was as a maid for a homeless family...
We live in a former cabin that has been added onto 3 times so we have the floorplan from hell. It is on a lake and we have 3 acres of woods that includes a few apple trees and my garden. I also raise herbs, rhubarb and strawberries and am trying to establish some native grasses and flowers. We live with 3 cats and a dog.
