If the Mayans could predict the end of the world, why couldn't they predict being wiped out by Spaniards?

Adding a song lyric out of relevance. Not as good as the Tool quote, though!

"So you say you wanna save the planet
but you know your Mother's planned it
so that she's not the one who needs saving."

That is a cheap shot, putting the music there should discredit the video a little bit. But I couldn´t find all of the originals, and it summerized a lot of different events. Thats why I used it.

I mean, there´re obviously explanations behind everything. I´m not suggesting that god is raining down his wrath or anything. But the fact that there are explanations (or at least attempts at explanations) behind most of the deaths, doesn´t change the fact that in a very short period of time,

    -100,000 drum fish in Arkansas
    -5,000 blackbirds in Arkansas
    -Millions of sardines in California
    -500 birds in Louisiana
    -40,000 crabs in England
    -530 Penguins in Brazil
-100 tons of fish in Brazil

and A LOT more animals have for various (or unknown) reasons turned up dead.

I dont feel like typing all this out, so I´ll just post a fun link. :)

Point is, the video is obviously one sided and trying to convince you the apocalypse is here, but it´s message shouldn´t be ignored.

This isn´t the first time mass animal deaths have happend in history, but there are a lot of them happening all over the world in a very short period of time. It could be a coincidence. Maybe this type of thing happens frequently, and the fact that we can see it all happening at once (because of the internet) makes it seem scary when it´s really nothing out of the ordinary. I don´t know. I just think it´s intresting and a little disturbing.

That's easy from what I’ve read those helmets worn by the spanish conquistador were very effective at blocking the flow of telepathy :2thumbsup:

I don't see it so much of a matter of "when will the world end?" "how will the world end?" or even "why will the world end?"

The real question that we should be asking is how we, as modern humans, expected to keep up with the inevitable fast-paced changes that the Earth will throw at us? The Earth is in constant flux, and whether the climate changes, mass animal kills, and loss of natural habitats are a sign of apocalypse, they are simply examples of what the Earth has done before and will do again.

Is the world ending? Probably not. Are humans fragile? Of course.

Can modern civilization as we know it adapt if our critical infrastructure, economic capabilities, or even the environment around us collapsed due to any number of the threats the Earth faces as a living planet suspended in a violent galaxy?

There are so many uncertainties and possibilities. Combined with our extraordinary dependence on modern technology - our staying power is something that we simply cannot count on.

If a group of shitty bankers can nearly throw the bulk of one of the world's most technologically advanced nations into poverty, then why the hell wouldn't we believe that the Earth or space can smite us down in an instant?

So I read all these posts about the end of the world and animals dying off and got totally freaked... I ran out in the rain and headed for my pond. I found a dying frog and picked him up. "Whats happening to all you guys" I asked him. "Listen Buddy", he said", "it's like this"...then he croaked.

    sounds good.

Of course, first, you´ll have to meet up with a stranger from the internet who is telling hipforums that the world is about to end, and has for some reason decided to give you all of his possessions if you only meet up with him.

Reminds me of this REM song:

That's great it starts with an earthquake
    Birds and snakes and aeroplanes
And Lenny Bruce is not afraid

Will there be a huge aeroplane crash next? And where's Lenny Bruce?
