we now know that some men prefer long hair, some prefer short, some don't really care, and one bald woman really really wants everyone to prefer short hair. i think we've covered everything there is to cover. /thread. please.
this is a bogus study. there is no reason why boys would first like long hair and then like short hair after they turned 25. I suspect that who ever was behind this study had an agenda, the idea being to encourage girls/women to wear their hair short, exactly because most men like long hair on women, and because they want women to focus on a career and power agenda. I recall also reading a "study" in a magazine that said that in order to get guys to like them, girls should gather in groups, and when they see the guy that they like, they should point and laugh, because guys are intrigued when girls do this. Very clearly bull shit. More famously, a study once declared that the most domestic violence in the us occurs on the day of the Superbowl. this was widely publicized, yet some basic fact-checking would have shown this to be a patent falsehood. What is evident to me is that this falsehood was promoted because the Superbowl gets a lot of attention, and saying that the most domestic violence occurs on the day of the Superbowl was a way to draw attention to the issue of domestic violence. Now, if this lie helped to promote the cause of domestic violence awareness, then there is some merit to it, but it is a good illustration of how completely false information gets publicized to promote the agenda of the publisher. What I suspect is that men who like short hair on women tend to like women who play a dominant role in the relationship. Men who like long hair like to be the one who plays the dominant role. I think that the agenda of the study is about power, and that it's conclusions have been falsified to achieve that result.
Basically I think that if a guy would reject you just because of your hairstyle, he is not the guy for you, so you shouldn't really care what guys or girls think of your hair. It really only matters what you yourself think of your hair.
I don't think I would reject someone solely on the basis of hairstyle, but for me it would be a pretty strong strike against her. Most of the the really hostile, selfish, entitled women I've encountered have had short hair, so it's a very negative association for me. Still, I think that anyone should wear their hair the way they want to. I'm just saying that if you think that short hair is the preference of most men, you've probably been lied to.
Well, I would never be interested in anyone that made assumptions about my personality based on my hair. Luckily, even though my hair is long now, my boyfriend fell in love with me when my hair was only an inch long.
You say all this wall-breaking shit, and then finish with that utter garbage about short or long hair being relevant to dom/sub roles. What bull.
i'm about to get my hair cut.. been thinking of what style to try. thought about choppy shoulder length with bangs but think i'll just do a side fringe and layers. really short hair would not suit my face at all.
there's a difference between an assumption and an association. If you saw someone who looked identical to your worst enemy, you probably wouldn't like them, even if you knew there was no rational basis for it. sometimes assumptions have merit, which is true in your case because as you said in your earlier post, you are a man-hating lesbian, and you've just falsified the notion that you have a boyfriend
seriously, your boyfriend wants you to have longer hair now right? maybe he just put up with you shorty-short hair do because your bod is smokin'
Actually I'm a switch depending on the girl, and have no preference on hair as long as the girl can pull it off well. We're going to need some pictures, of the sort that require off-site links, to verify this.
I agree Roorshack, whether a man prefers long hair or short hair on women has nothing to do with a man being dominant or submissive. It is a fashion preference. I have worn my hair short for years or shaved my head and worn the bald look, and while I believe in equal rights for men and women, I am submissive in my sexual relations with men, I like being the female, and the men I have been with, while respectful of women, are masculine and somewhat dominant in their sexual relationship with women, as my husband is (and he actually wears his hair long). Only a fool would generalize about men and say that if a man likes a cute short hairstyle on a woman that he is submissive, it could be just the opposite, it is just fashion preference. In many African countries, most of the women wear short hair or even a shaved head. Does that mean that all African men are submissive? I doubt it. What men who like short hair or shaved heads on beautiful women have told me is that they like how it looks on attractive feminine women, that you can see a woman's feminine features better without hair in the way. It is just a preference, no more or less than that.
Most men prefer long hair. When was the last time you saw short hair on a stripper? They work for tips.
Many women strippers do wear short hairstyles. I was a traveling salesman for years, and have been to my share of strip clubs. In the small towns I have been to, many of the strippers had long hair, but in the major cities the strippers are a variety of both short haired women and long haired women. One beautiful woman stripper I knew shaved her head and wore the bald look, which she wore with long dangle earrings. And she got plenty of tips, she was attractive with that style, she had the feminine features for it, and men liked her. The idea that women should have long hair and not short hairstyles went out about 30 or 40 years ago, it is an outdated small town idea. Women wear their hair in a variety of lengths, obviously. In the major metropolitan areas these days you see women with all sorts of hair lengths, from long to short to in between. Most of the men I know in their 30s or 40s are married to women with medium length hair or short hairstyles, and they like their women just fine that way. I have always liked short hairstyles on beautiful women, and I am hardly a submissive male. I do admit though that some women look better than others in a short hairstyle.
I'm sure that among the men at strip clubs, long hair is preferred, but that does not represent all men. To be fair to my boyfriend, he likes long hair on everybody, including men. His hair is down to his knees.
