Owsley Stanley dies in car crash

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Owsley "Bear" Stanley, a 1960s counterculture figure who flooded the flower power scene with LSD and was an early benefactor of the Grateful Dead, died in a car crash in his adopted home country of Australia on Sunday, his family said. He was 76.

RIP Bear,
Last I heard he was welding crazy structures on his property in Australia and was also beating cancer using a weird diet. He was an electronics genius too. Wired up the wall of sound the Dead used in the 70's. The album 'Bear Choice' was dedicated to Owsley.

 

I'm a lucky guy, too, not because I took his acid, but because I had the chance to meet him when he was 60. We had several interesting conversations.
