I'm saying quite the opposite, and that 50 is not old, in my opinion. Especially if one has taken care of themselves.

Absolutely. Chronological age is simply a measurement of the effects of time.

And further, we're all possibly much older than we really think we are. Our bodies are 27, 35, 50, etc, but the shit on the inside is possibly much older, possibly eternal. Time/age can only affect natural organisms. Not the inside. In other words;

Have you ever been around a 70/80 year old and thought, "they're pretty sharp for their age," or someone 50+ who's in good physical shape and thought, "that's pretty good for someone their age.", "they seem young for their age"?

If you let time/age deteriorate your mind and body, it will. If you take care of yourself, you can prove that age is simply a measurement, not a definitive thing.

 

I had this conversation one time with my fifty-year-old mother.

Her: "Hey, what's this weird symbol?" *She points to a smiling face emoticon*
Me: "It's a smily face."
Her: "No it isn't! It's gibberish!"
Me: "Mom, just turn your head sideways."
Her: "Well, alright, I don't see what good it will d--" *She turns her head* "OH MY GOD, THAT'S AMAZING."

I'm past 50, so I say at 30 you're relatively young, at 40 middle-aged and at 50, past middle age. At 60 you're a senior, at 70 you're old and 80+ is old-old.

 

I'm looking forward to getting old. At least then I will get a discount almost anywhere, I get a cane that I can hit people over the head with and I can get away with it just by claiming I'm old and crazy...hell yeah!

 

Ok, I can get the old thing, and I'm getting better...really I am.

What I don't get are the YOUNG and some older savants...they can't spell, they can't even form a complete sentence. Rarely does anything they say make a lick of sense; yet, they can zip around the computer posting pics, links, any and everything. What the hell?!?

I know this - being able to think logically, spell and type 60-65wpm means next to nothing nowadays.
