NPR gets about 2% of its funds from the federal government. It should consider having a bake sale instead and refusing the money so that it can get away from the political correctness the Right demands of it.
It's just one of the "wedge issues" used to keep conservatives thinking they're really conservative. My grandparents are flaming fucking liberals, talking about how everyone should have free college education and how we should make shit in america and how minimum wage is too low and shit. And yet, they THINK they're conservatives, because they don't like a few things like abortion or gun control. Bill O'Riley tells them that they're conservative because they don't like america being attacked and because they want the right to have the guns to shoot BACK. And they listen. You say liberal, and there's a huge set of people who have been conditioned to think that you want to superimpose a swastica over the stars on the american flag (ironic, given that all the neo-nazi nutjobs are "conservatives") and take their guns and forcefully abort their babies and start taking their civil liberties and start tapping their phones and start putting cameras to watch everything they do and I don't know what all else. If these people knew what their party stood for, and what real liberals think, there would be no liberal/conservative question. It's basically false flag through the media. The conservative media crows about the liberal media, and says that liberals are everything that conservatives really are, and repeats the words "values", "morals", and "taxes".
Perhaps you missed the historical FACT that groups that invariably abused any power they've attained... republicans do it- so do democrats... but the most egregious abuses come from those are cloaked by a relative lack of visibility... corporate, foreign, and special interests have supplanted the vacuum of influence created when the working class chose to become silent within a process that has been boastful of its supposed respect for an individual's right to be heard. Oh, and by the way, the new political fad of disenfranchising voters seems to have caught on to some degree- but I'm sure this didn't escape the steel trap of your notice -eh?
