Whenever I think of alien life, I always think of the fact somewhere out there, something is looking out at this:

    and thinking about alien life

our planet Earth is one that emits light.... So if the Aliens are watching us from their telescopes on the other side the galaxy. Its possible all they see is a stupid dim shinning star next to another big shinny star..
And if they are as smart as we are lol.. They would know. "Life can not live on a star" and wouldn't bother coming here.

Who told you that? Maybe life "as we know it" cannot exist on a star, but how do you know the star itself isn't alive? It sure ain't dead! And who's to say there aren't trillions of beings alive on the sun? They just don't look or act like us, that's for sure.

As far as I know the Earth does not "emit light" either. It reflects the light of the sun. If the earth emitted light, we would not have night, as the earth would provide illumination instead of darkness. Humans do emit light and many other wavelengths however, in many ways, thru their technology. But that is not the planet itself illuminating anything. Perhaps an active volcano can send some light from the planet's surface into space, but it's pretty minimal.

The earth does have a radiation belt and emits all sorts of wavelengths of energy, as do most planets, but not in the light spectrum.

    that's a misnomer skip

the earth DOES emit light - not in the VISIBLE light spectrum. earth emits infrared light much as humans do.

some scientists are calling this a hoax. i'm looking forward to seeing how this pans out. see if it's legit or not

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/03/06/meteorites-life-idUSN0627219120110306

"He is not the first to claim discovery of microscopic life from other worlds.

In 1996, NASA scientists presented research indicating a 4-billion-year-old meteorite found in Antarctica carried evidence of fossilized microbial life from Mars.

The initial discovery of the so-called Mars meteorite was greeted with acclaim and the rock unveiled at a standing room-only briefing at NASA headquarters in Washington.

Since then, however, criticism has surrounded that discovery and conclusive proof has been elusive."

the yahoo article on this said something about how a lot of scientists say that cosmology magazine is just a bunch of bs from "scientists" trying to prove life on earth originated elsewhere. so who knows. i'm hoping this shit's for real. never thought id see the day when ET was discovered.

It certainly is possible and I know that they did exhaustive studies before they published this. Over a hundred scientists reviewed the evidence and while the details are critically important a passive ignoring of this if it is true seems naive at best.

i think that article was just recently published. he invited other scientists to review his findings. don't think that verdict is in yet. i'm waiting for what seems like a consensus among the scientific community

Those bacteria are only the advance party for a huge invasion force coming.

The entire species of bacteria will arrive on Earth in something resembling an ipod (so they'll be well camouflaged).

The rest of the invasion force is expected to arrive sometime in the next 65 million years, so GET READY!

Now WHAT a silly thing to say.

You're using all sorts of technology developed and/or perfected by NASA, when you get on the internet, or even turn on your computer.

You do know that the journal this was published in is actually going bankrupt?

I thought NASA was up shit-creek too, what with all their budget cuts an all.

I first heard of this via a yahoo.com news post a friend of mine on facebook posted. Meanwhile I am on yahoo.com reading an article that has in it; "Glasgow is one of the most under-rated cities in the world." Yeah right. I wouldn't go to Glasgow if you paid me.

    Bollocks.
