I don't mean to bring something negative into our happy Lesbian Forum , but I saw this on the Rants and Raves section of my local CraigsList and thought I would share: Your posting was so funny and true-and not just limited to cops but certainly to lesbians who demand that we accept their way of life, but they won't accept ours. We know a couple of (gasp) lesbians who hate men, sports, straight women, and meat eaters (damn peta lesbians are the worst!) just because they have a differnet POV. They demand tolerance but won't return the favor. I know plenty of gay men who don't have this issue, it is only lesbians. Carpetmunchers need their own dang island where they can all hate each other and leave us alone! That was a response to a "rant" someone (I couldn't tell if they were male or female) posted about how a "lesbian cop" she/he made small talk with had an attitude with him/her. Have any of you noticed this kind of generalization from people on the Internet or otherwise towards lesbians? That's what bothers me about this is that the person is assuming that all lesbians are like this and that we just fit neatly into a stereotype. I didn't make a reply because I figured it was best to just let it go. This could be something just specific in to the area I live in, but what do you guys think? I know this person has a right to their opinion, but....I still found it offensive.

Yeah cause all lesbians hate men and are veggie. Pfft. Unfortunately there are stereotypes of all kinds for different types of people. Best we can do is prove the stereotypes wrong, and remember that some people are just raised differently and are ignorant.
Are you kidding me? I try to be as tolerant as possible, but people still give me shit about my orientation. The only "gay agenda" I know of is the one that exists in the feeble mind of these far right nutjobs. If they walked in our shoes, they would see differently. In Florida, people like me are drowned out by the right wingers and neocons. If I speak out agaisnt them, I am called a "liberal" as if it's a bad thing.
Yea...sterotypes are just observations...they are not facts. The only way we can truly divide ourselves is men and women. Women can be bitches and men can be assholes. I can honestly say that i have stereo typed women in many ways and i am a woman myself. I would rather have a man boss...and i have had a bad experience with a couple female cops on different occasions..and i'm not a criminal...but was treated like one. I do think some women are not meant to be in authority...just the same as there are men who aren't fit for it as well. But it never has anything to do with being gay...that's a whole new category...we all get thrown in one whether we like it or not! There are worst things you can be thrown in.
