On Saturday, Michael Moore flew to Wisconsin to read this speech to the protesters who've been fighting the union busting of the Republican party.

In this excellent speech Michael Moore lays out the truth behind the rhetoric that says middle class Americans must sacrifice even more income and benefits so that the government can run without a deficit.

He points his finger at those who are to blame for the condition of this country, Corporate America, Moore's usual whipping boy and the "uber rich."

Moore has some great lines in this speech, must read or see. I wonder if he's going to enter politics...

    "The Sleeping Giant has Awakened!"

I love Michael Moore. I think he uses manipulative editing in his documentaries and relies too much on emotional testimony, but I still love him. He would be the left's answer to Rush Limbaugh, except he seems to actually have a soul and truly cares about the working class.

He endeared himself to me forever in Capitalism: A Love Story when he went to all the major banks in NYC with an armoured vehicle and an empty bag, demanding the money these banks recieved in the bail-out. He told the security guards he was there to take back the money the banks stole from the American people. Then he wrapped yellow Crime Scene tape around one of the major banks.

    Goddamnit, I love that man.

Michael Moore is the last person the Gov/Corp would let in. He's too honest and passionate, you can't pay off spirit. Even though in a perfect world that'd be awesome, I think he's doing is part fairly well. I say REVOLUTION. Let's end this bullshit, love voice like Michael Moore.

America isn't broke, but it is a place that features a terrible distribution scheme.

    ~ more or less

the top 1% owns 43% of financial wealth
the next 4% owns 29% of financial wealth
the next 5% owns 11% of financial wealth
the next 10% owns 10% of financial wealth
the bottom 80% own 7% of financial wealth

  10. I just hope that the "breaking point" has been reached. The average person in the street has to stand up and be counted. Is this time upon us? I hope to fuck that it is! What goes around comes around!

Can someone please explain how a government can owe money? Oh, you have debts? To whom? Put it into administration and reconstitute it, like any corporation would be. What's going to happen? Money isn't real, especially for a fictionally composed nation-state. Dissolve the country, cancel the debts, and build a better one from scratch. If people get upset, at least it will teach them not to rely on concepts like credit and focus on what is real.

To establish a premise for legislatively robbing us. They feed off crises- even those that they created (or helped create) themselves- like the economic situation.

I've still yet to see evidence of that in this thread, other than Mr. Moore's words.

Micheal Moore is an idiot. He tries to manipulate your emotions to push his radical agenda, he makes documentaries for money. End of story.

They often do do this, and refinance it, people here $13 trillion and think OMG CHINA OWNS US. One, China owns about 1/4 of 1/4 of the debt, less than 1/8, in fact only slightly higher than Japan and no one is going OMG JAPAN OWNS US. 1/3 of the debt is inter-government holdings which is easily manageable and easily financed. Pubic debt is about $9 trillion of the debt and is owned by a variety of institutions both domestic and foreign as well as the general public.

Also on topic, as good as a talking point it makes, a country literally can't be broke, especially one like ours. We're rich, we're hella rich, there's not an issue of being broke, there's an issue of "AARGH OMG TAXES, CUT THEM ALL"

I don't suppose you consider what's happening in Wisconsin to be a case in point.

Unfortunately here soon it will simply be rich and poor, and the poor being taken over as slaves. That is what 'they' would really prefer to see. Our country is only a vague reflection of what our forefathers had dreamed it to be.

Oh come on, the poor can be Maters of their fate, if they can make out their wealth in knowledge of the lies.
