Hello all you beautiful people, I am new on this site, and my main purpose for joining was to get in contact with other people with the same interests and beliefs as myself. im currently starting up a commune of people for peace in the small town that i live in, and i need some ideas and tips on how to raise awarenesss! or just even some new ideas that i can ponder and introdue to my fellow friends. we are all working together to help transform this world to live up to its full potential. thanks, peae, love, tolerance Taelor
Man, thats a fantastic goal! I just got back from the west coast a couple weeks ago, its such a different culture although i did think there would be more intentional living-type arrangements (I did alot of research on communes in the area) Will it be like a back-to-nature kind of commune, striving to be totally self-sufficient? Or is it more integrated into the system's economy, with all or a few members having 9 to 5s? What are your core values you're basing the community around? Any religious undertones, etc I'd love some more info about your plans. It's really helpful to discuss the logistics of getting that sort of vision into a tangible reality, I tried (and failed) to start a temporary one up on the beach myself, but underestimated the tremendous problems of doing so. Good luck, though
hello and welcome you may want to read some threads and post here http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/forumdisplay.php?f=57 about your commune. I think that lots of people have had some experience with this and have some wisdom to share
thank you for the link, i shall go and check it out! we are having our very first meeting soon (it takes a lot of planning to get these things started). we are just going to get everyone together and see what they are wanting to see change. we are focusing on some of the following: · gay/straight/bisexual/racial/sex/religion-based/discrimination · stereotyping(slurs) · bullying(i am in highschool, we are trying to eliminate hate!) · lack of concern for others and the environment · greediness · the severe lack of respect for life (abortion, animal mistreatment, embryonic stem cell research, assisted suicide laws, etc.) · school education system · exploitation/selfishness · military/industrial complex · capitalism and yes, also we would like to focus our ideas around the back-to-nature, self-sufficiency. we havnt talked tooo deeply about it yet, but once we have our first meeting we will get a feel for what people think and what people are willing to do.
