ZW & TVC, another old fart here, yeah acid doses were on average double the strength of whats around today. I have always wondered about questions like this. I thought that the psychedelic experience is what you have to keep you busy, not a bunch of props. If you need to ask "What are some good things to do while tripping?" you need stronger doses. For me the trip is the what I'm doing, no need for much more. On a good dose of LSD all the entertainment you could ever want lies right behind your eyelids.
I always thought acid had an extremely regresssive quality to it. I mean, you could be entertained by looking at your hands. You could read faces to communicate to others on acid, like a pre speech time when facial expression was everything to you. You could feel vibes and energy from people. The world was so fresh and new because you never had seen many of the things in it before, and could be entertained easily. I used to be afraid of the dark as a tiny kid because I could see patterns in the dark. The first time I dropped acid I saw them and recognized them. Wierd, strange. It's archetypal. orange barrel, blue barrel, pyramid, windowpane, oh yea. Microdot or blotter for maintaining.
So why would coloring in a book be excluded from that regressive/entertaining quality? Seems like you would have something more memorable and personal to bring back with you than the rock you just stared at for 12 hours. LSD hits are weaker, but I think we do desire enhanced props/settings today even with strong LSD and drugs that are comparable or even stronger than LSD, probably some sort of desentization type thing.
Bring some bud to cheef on when you're on the downswing, (or anytime at all really) it helps with the body tension and tightness that is common.
dude honestly half the fun of tripping is deciding at 2 am that you need some things then you and your friends write a list of things to buy at the store that says something like "wine, crayons, apple juice, matches, lava lamp. then spending 5 hours on the road trying to find those things on the list, who the hell knows where you will end up before you stop tripping with such a goal as finding a lava lamp at 2 in the morning
Yep. Same shit humans have seen while tripping since the dawn of man (and woman!) :beatnik: Early man may have only had Mushrooms, Peyote, etc, but tripping is tripping really. Once you reach that 'threshold', your experience will be pretty similar to most other humans, (in the most basic sense of course) because we all possess the same 'hardware'. We all have two eyes capable of pattern producing "phosphenes", for instance, and as for 'software', we are all masters of the abstract, our ability to learn language at an early age proves that. We rend patterns from chaos, we command order from patterns. It's what we do... it's the only way humans have survived and made sense out of 'conscious life' in a world that when it comes down to it, is purely abstract! If most humans didn't perceive the world pretty much the same as other humans, we would have been extinct long ago. ZW
Well said. I liken it to a template for a web site. Numerous sites can use the same template to create any number of websites, but they will all have the same basic structure and presentation to them, much like the human brain/nervous system. The content that fills the pages of the website will be unique to each site though. Much as the content of our minds; memories and experiences, fills in and provides the content for a psychedelic journey, but the mechanics or template of how that is accomplished with psychedelics is the same for everyone.
i would keep it simple. just something to drink, some fruit to snack on, and MUSIC. weed would be nice for the comedown too. music is gonna be great no matter how strong your acid is (to you old heads) i would NOT do this. take more care for your setting, especially for your first trip. the last place i wanna go while tripping is the store. usually
Here is my ultimate packed bag: 2 cans of pop 2 Sandwiches Hoodie Extra Socks (mostly cuz it's winter here, and snow gets in your shoes when running around like a schoolgirl) Extra Pants Silly Putty (amazing when on a couple good hits, you'll see) Small Speakers (if with someone you want to share music with) Ipod, with playlists set up by mood (Playful, deep, dance, etc.) Laser Pointer Cheap camera (Nice to bring some pictures back with you) Markers (markers are seriously the best, how smooth the ink comes out) Drawing pad Assorted fruit (as mentioned previously) And finally, if you can, bring a couple bongos for you and a friend. You will have the best bongo solo ever. You can also play along to music, adds a connection between you and the artist. Also, have $20 on you at all times, never know where you will end up, and having enough for transportation or a meal just in case is important.
Are you one of those that is relying on the external to be entertained while on acid? I guess so if you think this is "unpsychedelic." The mind, and the projections it produces with minimal influence from external factors is way more powerful than a coloring book :mickey: Maybe you should try it sometimes. Tools of projection will bring out aspects of yourself you didn't know exisisted. Of course if you are one of those people who take acid to just stand around and wait to be entertained I could see why this wouldn't be interesting to you. Just sayin'
I think he was referring to the fact of you saying "you have to stay inside the lines with a coloring book."
