damn the torpedo's i think that was one of his first, i remember the first song i heard from him, refugee, yea he kicks ass, his band does too
My sister and I used to act out the scene from the video where Petty dances with the dead Mary Jane. *giggle* But I played Tom and she played Mary Jane, because I am twice her size. Hehe, I'm so corn fed, I don't think I'll ever be a good candidate for Swing dancing!
oh man great story here...my mom went to one of his concerts and actually MET the man himself!!! and do you know what she did? she was so starstruck (she's her IDOL) that SHE DIDNT ASK FOR HIS AUTOGRAPH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i was SO MAD! STILL AM!!!!! ARRRGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tom Petty is awsome. When I was little like like 2 or 3 my dad use to rock me asleep to his songs, corny I know but it's cute.
Well I won’t back down, no I won’t back down You can stand me up at the gates of hell But I won’t back down Gonna stand my ground, won’t be turned around And I’ll keep this world from draggin’ me down Gonna stand my ground and I won’t back down Hey baby, there ain’t no easy way out Hey I will stand my ground And I won’t back down. Well I know what’s right, I got just one life In a world that keeps on pushin’ me around But I’ll stand my ground and I won’t back down Hey baby there ain’t no easy way out Hey I will stand my ground And I won’t back down No, I won’t back down I actually gotta say I like Johnny Cash's version of the song better, but I still love the song no matter who sings it.
My dad raised me on Hendrix He would wake up in the middle of the night and would just throw a record (I think it was a greatest hits album) on the kick-ass turntable we had. My mom used to get pissed at him. Yours is cuter but... mine still kicks-ass.
Eh, I'm not the biggest Tom Petty fan. His stuff isn't as exciting as Hendrix's or Clapton's or someone like that...at least, not for me. And that song "Freefallin" I've just heard WAY too many times, and it's not an amazing song...it kind of gets on my nerves. He's not bad though...
tom petty rocks.i love how him and the rest of the travelling wilburys culd relate to everyday people in their lyrics even though they were rich and famous ledgens.
