do they not know how to hate... or do they not hate because they believe they shouldn't? if they are free of hate, does it give them the right to dictate to a child what it should or shouldn't be (when it grows)?
how does it not make sense? What I was saying was that the courts should take religion into consideration more often and that the religions in our society need to become more open-minded to the fact that homosexuality isn't going anywhere, so rather than preach against homosexuality, they should embrace it and accept it. I'm anti-religion because of the fact that most religions are extremely closed-minded, the point of sexual preference is just one way that Christianity proves this.
The idea the authorities shouldn't consider religion is ridiculous. Imagine you were a child, and were adopted by crazed scientologists like John Travolta who won't let you go outside and refuse to give you your epilepsy medication. By denying any religious considerations, you're just giving those people a chance to hide their twisted views behind the safety of a religious facade. And yes, scientology is a perfectly valid comparison with christianity.
I do not have sympathy for them but I also see this as rather ironic. That the state would make this ruling is somewhat ridiculous. If you are a natural parent it does not mean you are any better qualified to raise them or that you would not hold the same views as the foster parents on some issues. Foster parents are not only there to simply feed and clothe but they are also there to guide children. Rules, discipline morals and behaviours are also what they should be providing. Hopefully love, respect and well being are also there. So the person who states that they have this belief is then excluded but the person who does not but still holds that view could foster. Or any other deviation of belief that could be viewed as harmful by a court. As far as the mental anguish they might cause to a foster child who later in life decides to come out, the same is done in most families as telling their families is a really difficult thing for most to do. That is human nature. So if your natural parent or your foster parents are the ones you are coming out to do not accept that then they do not. Interesting case. Very mixed signals about the line between what is acceptable as teachings and doing harm. To say it is not something that you believe in but yet foster no hate is not even considered. The reality is that as parents we all do this, not always on this particular issue but we instill or teach the beliefs we have with regards to acceptable and not to our children. I am not sure that this ruling is a fair one if that was the only reason for exclusion. They may have had that belief but they also may have had a lot to offer to a child who needed a home. Hard to balance at times and too easy to judge others.
rather , it is ya'll . an emptiness has been filled with urban myth , and it mostly relates to a general impotence of mind in dealing with over-population . it's evident that many people swallowed it . Christians do not hate . Children are not homo-sexual . Gay is theatrical sex . It pretends .
Teaching religion to children is a form of child abuse, and parents who indoctrinate their kids in religion should be prosecuted, convicted, and sent away for a long stretch in prison for it. Obviously, I'm not holding my breath. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYaQpRZJl18"]YouTube - Christopher Hitchens - Christianity is Immoral (1 of 2)
What a fucking silly pair of statements. If I start a religion that says I should get foster children and relentlessly rape them, is it ok just because it's a religion? All freedom of religion means is you can think what you want, that you don't need proof in order to think something and no one can descriminate because you think it. Letting this kind of person foster children would infringe on those CHILDREN'S freedom of religion. "My right to punch you in the nose ends where your nose begins".
some people here are dissing my words ... they are the indoctrinated and have nothing but diss and attack . i can have the same problem with mudlled Christians as far as the difficulty of discussion , yet they just go silent and do not attack nor diss . at best they will consider and explore the wisdom of tradition . yes , the social dialogue must progress . the earth is in trouble . we is it . sexy we .
This is pretty close minded too. There are some things that religion teaches that are supposed to be good moral values, the "golden rule" for one, and it is not fair to simply condemn an entire group of people. They obviosly think its the right choice, it is not like parents are teaching their children that homosexuality is wrong thinking "ya we will mess up his/her views real good" or "I know it is immoral and emotionally abusive, but its just so much fun". No, they are teaching what they think is best. I may not agree with it, but i respect peoples rights. Not every christian parents are trying to indoctrinate their kids, just teaching them what they believe right and wrong are, its up to the kids to think for themselves eventually too.
It's a lot different, indoctrinating something you made, than claiming discrimination because you're not allowed to indoctrinate and emotionally scar OTHER peoples kids.
Oh you mean on the poor kids who have already been thrown away by people and society in many cases? I am sure that being in the foster system in the first place is a totally level place to start from. While there may be some people who are fanatics as far as religious beliefs that does not appear to be the case here. They had been approved before and actually had fostered. We all as parents, indoctrinate and emotionally scar kids even if it is just by simply spewing an opposing view on anything or an expectation. The minute you say to any child you should not do anything you are doing so by that definition. Rather a ridiculous statement and far too broad a premise to rationally argue. Raising any child is a judgment call in most situations. That someone else holds a view contrary to mine does not mean they necessarily are wrong or do any more harm by doing so than I might do. Nor does it mean that the child will not in the future take what fits for them and leave what does not, just like they all do. I may not share their view and it is not how I would raise my children but unless they are teaching their children (or in their care) to act out based upon those beliefs, they have the right to have their beliefs.
Because kids MIGHT be from a bad situation does not mean we just throw them with any homophobe who asks for them. Apparently there are more fit foster parents to fill the void. The LAST thing some kid who, again, could be gay, who already has other problems on their plate needs is to live with strangers who think that they've sold their soul to satan. What you basically said just now is that "because it was okay to be a homophobe before means it's still okay". What the FUCK?
So, Let me get this straight ( no pun intended) It's OK for a child to be raised by gay ppl and yet that does not infringe upon their choices, they are raised in a gay inviroment, isnt that dictating that the child should be gay too anf that it's perfectly 'normal'?? Is it ok for a child to be raised by Tranvestites or SM/BD but not by christians?? I dont get it. It sounds like double standards here.. In most courts Religion is NOT brought up in child custody cases, look what the JW do to their kids and yet you cant take them to court bc of their religion. The gov is butting in where it dont belong. I guess it's better to place a child in an abuser/molester's home rather then a Christain's home. If a child needs a home and love and moral values then place them where they will get that. When they grow up they can decide for themselves about religion just like the rest of us did. Or do we let kids go without any values at all, just do and be what they want, no disapline, no right from wrong, just what ever feels good at the moment and to hell with what comes after. Our kds are doomed, when the gov steps in, it takes our freedom of choice away there is nothing left but slavery. sh
