Didnt we have this same thread a couple months ago? What makes you think a schizophrenic is or wants to be any more or less revolutionary than anyone else? We are social creatures, we crave connection, schizophrenia is extremely debilitating in allowing one to connect and feel empathy towards others. Revolutionary minds require a strong belief in their cause, schizophrenics don't even have a strong belief in their own day to day thoughts.
that was confusing. borderline jibberish. kinda like that news reporter Serene from the grammy's haha you talk about forgiveness in one part, that we must forgive cuz everyone is innocent. if people are innocent, why would you think you need to forgive them, especially because the first post is pretty much about how people conspire against schizophrenics? also at first you mentioned that people are either good or bad, how does that fit in at all? i interpret what you're saying as being 'find your own void' in contradiction to what the world has told you, but the world is the only thing we have, you can't refuse it really, you just have to carve your niche with your actions and suck in information. and in the first post, why the heck would people conspire against only these few people by diagnosing them with schizophrenia? there's no logical reason, it just seems like conspiracy babble to me.
i guess its just like a lot of people talk about schizophrenia definitively and really have no idea, its extremely hard to talk about, even i make lot of mistakes, because my perceptions change a lot, and its kind of like a moving target sometimes i get offended by how people talk about it, sometimes i probably think people who are talking about their symptoms are just making fun of me or something, and sites are attacking me, then i realize maybe they really do have that problem, and thats just how they chose to explain it, schizophrenics vry greatly as people and their goals vary greatly just as the delusions/strange experiences and content of their minds vary greatly so its hard to sum it up in one statement, the main thing, is the voices and other hallucinations and the suffering that they cause.. but it can also be so joyful, and sometimes i think, or i should say always, i think it comes from the spirits.. but sometimes it really is useful like a puzzle peice that if people thought about and took seriously for a moment they would find it actually answers a lot of questions or some kind of problem... honestly i don't like that most times on this site, im being responded to like oh hehe that kids on a lot of drugs, like what are you smoking, because im just trying to put experiences out in a place of neutralness, where its not immediately seen as delusional, nor as like the word of god or whatever, neccesarily, but one thing it definitely it, it is my experience, and its apparently not common, but you know its something i believe deeply in, i guess maybe this site is not the place to do that, doesnt have the maturity? but in some cases ive gone so far already, i feel i shouldn't stop, every once in a while coming back... also i feel, its true i dont really listen much... maybe i should listen more its just a really sucky thing to have... beyond that, because peoples lives, people are trying to just live their lives sometimes the wierd situations are actually real, im just tired of being completely discounted and the mental health community doesnt offer much real support thats not debilitating in and of itself, they dont entertain the reality that sometimes people are wierd and wierd things do happen, that schizophrenia can amplify, does that mean that these people who are messing with us should never be recognized? it should all be seen as something in my head right? wrong, thats a terrible way to deal with it. .. instead you feel like your dealing for people whose main object has nothing to do with the true interests of the patient, just really square people, and what if they are in the end, on the same side as those who originally are intentionally trying to freak you out? its just hard to trust them, for me personally. and no, its not like tripping on acid or any drug, and no doing that will not cause it, as a matter of fact, sometimes i do eat morning glories and afterwards i actually feel clearer in my mind, and the voices are a lot less prominent for a few days, though sometimes other wierd things happen and smoking weed also helps a lot, though lately im glad that i've needed it a lot less, because its harder to obtain than it used to be, and that used to really be hell for me, but i actually feel strong and well recently compared to how i have been, though i still hear some voices and i just realize that people around are indeed kind of messed up people, and im in a very bizarre situation IN REALITY, that most people honestly are not going to understand, and maybe they never will also im not really involved in any political movement or anything.. i say anarchy meaning i dont care and just live my life for the most part... i think we should all, live our lives on the level of what effects us personally, who cares about the stuff the government talks about? do you realize how huge the world is? think about it, people are just being stressed out by these problems that nation governments are probably honestly making up just to control them to some degree im involved in spiritual movements, that are about love, non violence, and wholeness of the self, the goal being spiritual enlightenment... love deeply and cause as little suffering as possible is what i try to do, im sad governments are so strange, though perhaps some do actually have good intentions, not only that but actually work in ways that are actually helpful and not just hindering people one thing that should happen is cannabis should be legalized completely the world over, do you realize how much unnessecary suffering that would end? perhaps even entire wars would be ended, entire conflicts, over this one stupid thing that has NO FUCKING REASON at all for being illegal, thats something that is truly crazy. maybe even these crazy terrorist people would stop hating us so much... because they would be able to practice their spiritual ways without being persecuted, they would be able to have a legitimate livelihood and stop being oppressed by whatever they see themselves as being oppressed by maybe they would stop persecuting others such as women as well, because the herb just makes people see, things are equal, all is love, its better to let people be free, and not rule from fear, but like the Oneness, the Eternal Spirit, no matter what name or how it appears to you, that which is deep inside before thought handle things... than try to control others and the world according to any rules, except maybe being safe. The ness herb is a divine healing plant, and thats no delusion there, though it does sound too good to be true, there are things in THIS world, that are just that great, go figure, the world is an amazing place, if we just recieve what it has to offer to us, and work with it, work with NATURE!!

OP, I agree with you so much. Of course, there are definitely people who are afflicted with schizophrenia...however, the medical field does have a habit of "diagnosing" those who think differently with schizophrenia. My late boyfriend had a very revolutionary, activist mindset. He participated in Food Not Bombs, he was a huge part of a non profit here, he lived off of the land, was big into the bike culture, etc, etc. Unfortunately he was also an addict. He got slapped with the "schizophrenic" diagnosis about a year before he passed away. I knew this man...since I was 13 and he was not schizophrenic. He had some social anxiety issues, and dealt with his own issues as we all do...but schizophrenia was not one of them.
I used to be schitzo, so I know from personal experience. IT IS REAL, IT IS FUCKED, AND ITS NOT OVERRATED OR ANYTHING ONE BIT. Idk mabey some people get misdiagnosed, but I don't know about any of that.
my uncle was schitzophrenic..doctors said it was induced by alcohol. He thought he was part of President Raegan's personal task force. He carried around a briefcase with all his "important papers." he died from liver failure a few years back. I came across his briefcase the other day. It was filled with papers...drawings, stories, long winded rants remarkably similiar to some of the stuff that the OP is saying in some of his posts in this thread. I came to the conclusion after spending hours pouring over these papers that my uncle was actually a really brilliant man and his schitizophrenia gave him the tunnel vision to put some of his brilliant ideas on paper. BUT, it was still very appearant that he was a ranting psychotic. I don't mean psychotic in a derogatory way, he was simply someone afflicted with psychosis. Schizophrenia is certainly a very real disease; my uncle was never able to lead a normal life because of it. A lot of that probably had to do with the alcoholism too.

Of course it is real for some people. But, just like many other 'mental illnesses'...I would gather it could very well be misdiagnosed a WHOLE SHIT TON in people who either..do not have a 'mental illness' at all, or who are afflicted with some other 'mental illness.' I wanted to add, that I have been being diagnosed and re-diagnosed with all kinds of different crap since I was a young girl, something that I think is...really strange...diagnosing a child with a 'mental illness.' I have been (in certain doctors eyes) bi-polar, had schizotypal personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, and panic disorder among a few others. The only thing that stuck, or, in my opinion, was a real issue going on with me..was the panic. The rest faded away as I got through puberty..or, once again in my opinion, probably never existed in the first place. In fact, the only thing I have been 'diagnosed' with since I was 20...has been panic disorder. I think I was melodramatic teenage girl who grew up with a father in and out of her life, which caused her issues on top of all the hormonal crap teens have to go through, with a single mother who was doing everything she could to make ends meet, who was just trying to do whatever she could to make things feel "ok" and "normal" when in fact..life isnt "normal," really, for anyone.... and I was largely taken advantage of by the medical field, or maybe just a few not-so-good doctors, and put on all kinds of medications (some with some pretty crappy side effects....I tried to commit suicide twice..both times I was on Zoloft, only for it to come out later on that there, in fact, IS an increased risk of suicidal thoughts while on SSRI's) that just complicated things..why I was put on those...I dont know, and I could go on another long winded rant about how many doctors are paid by drug firms to prescribe certain medications...but, then many people would probably slap me with another label that doesnt fit on me..ooo I am a conspiracy theorist, etc, etc! Anyhow..yeah...people that think "outside" of the box or what have you, in reality ARE often labeled, even wrongly diagnosed. But it certainly doesnt mean that everyone who is diagnosed is not afflicted...or even suffering with a very, very real chemical imbalance. And to the OP...maybe you are not schizophrenic...but could there be a possibility..even a small one, that you are either are, or perhaps have some other chemical imbalance? Youve freely admitted that you hear/heard voices, etc...
spookie, my best friend growing up went through something similiar. Her dad passed away when she was young and she had a lot of daddy issues that manifested in ways that, when coupled with female teenage hormones, made doctors label her with all sorts of mental illnesses. They put her on seroquel, zyprexa, tegretol, and a ridiculous cocktail of other drugs that I can't recall right now when she was 15 years old and didn't even weigh 100 pounds. All these medications amplified her mental symptoms x 1000. She spent 4 years, from the age of 13 to 17, on various medications that didn't help her at all and usually made things worse. When she was 17 she decided she had enough and went off all drugs. She also started taking birth control around this time and this was the only thing that ever worked to stabilize her moods, which makes me think her problems were all hormonal related to begin with. I think doctors should really be careful about giving teenagers and children strong anti-psychotic drugs. I suggested this on another thread and got crucified, so I'm hesitant to do it here, but I do agree that many times mental disorders are misdiagnosed. There are often underlying environmental factors that contribute to behavioral changes and too many doctors are too quick to diagnose it as a mental disease and put the person on medication that will ultimately hurt rather than help.
Oh..I couldnt agree with you more regarding teenagers and children anti-psychotic and even SSRI's. I cant understand why anyone would crucify you for this..its well known that these medications can have adverse reactions in young people....not to mention it is fucking tough to be a teenager.. Birth control also leveled out my moods. Turns out I have slight hyperthyroid issues so my hormones are...all over the place but I take a supplement for that....but anxiety was the only real issue...as well as just being a teen.
My uncle was paranoid schizophrenic. A true conspiracy theorist and not in the modern impotent shut-in way but the 'lets jump a plane to Israel for a few months' and get involved kinda way. Very much the revolutionary mind. Though he was onto a lot of correct things, he was still crazy. Had been since he was young. No tv, meds or anything to blame it on, it manifested because his genes were predispositioned for Teh Crazy.
