So I've had my laptop for about 3 years. It's been pretty good to me and I've taken good care of it. Well about a month back the DCI jack broke and I got it fixed and got my baby back. Well today has been my darkest day ever.

I opened it up this the morning only to find a blanks screen and the HDD light not flashing. I did everything I could to fix it that I've learned so far from my computer classes at school. I'm scared to say though, I think my motherboard is fried. Just that I'd share "The Day My Laptop Stood Still" >.> FML.

mines about three years old too..been through at least two sets of hinges and had a bad memory stick...other than that its been great considering it was a cheapo re-furb from Stables >>$ 280...and I see them selling on ebay for that same price today so I guess I got a deal

I kinda wish I got another years warranty on it now. I'm about 80% sure it is my motherboard on it now.

Mine was $60 on craigslist, had it for a year now, works decent. I'd say go that route.

Sounds like they screwed you when they put in the replacement jack. You should at least get your money back for the repair.

If your laptop is 3 years old, it's time for a new one. Ppl need to run newer operating systems to keep out the hackers.

Right now laptop prices are very steady, or even rising. The price on the laptop I'm using now that I got last year is more than I paid for it!

I had an HP that died the day after the warranty was up.

I bought a Sony Vaio...the cheapest one for $750 and its awesome. I highly suggest the Vaio to anyone who needs a new laptop :)

One of the Thinkpads I had I opened up one time and it was black sceen wouldnt seem to start. Up towards the hinge area there is a little switch that shuts the screen off when you close the lid..It was just stuck. I figured that out and jiggled it a little and it never bothered again. Try that..
