My grampa(several generations back) was said to be the first white man to enter what is now Kaintuck. (you know who he was).
A wild guess Daniel Boone I’ve been to kentucky 3 times to visit mammoth cave which BTW sucks compared to Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico Hotwater
live hour and half north of louisville...in a hillbilly grease stain called bedford, IN...know where to find good psychs in louisville anybody?
Thought I would mention this here as I have already posted a thread about this in the events and festivals page but I am flying up to Ky from Miami on Thursday for the Starry Nights Festival in Bowling Green... line-up is pretty sweet... If any of you KY people are going, please let me know! www.starrynightsfestival.com
There were many white explorers in Kentucky before Daniel Boone was ever Born. Fact. A Man named Gabriel Arthur was the first in 1673. Boone left Virginia for Ky in 1775. I am a direct descendant of a man who lived in Fort Boonsbourogh with Daniel Boone, named Barney Stagner. This info has been stored in my head since I was a kid bragging in History class lol
Northen Kentucky is the way to go ! Actually i hate Kentucky with a passion, at least the part i live in ha. Lexington horse country and the Mammoth cave/Appalachian area are the only parts i really enjoy.
Im surprised at how many people there are from KY there are on here... i thought i'd be the only one... Anyways like i said in the other post - posted up in Frankfort, KY and "have car will travel" to meet with people if anyone wants to meet in person or we all start gathering - im a bit of a spaz but im a nice guy XD
I really think that we should have a gathering! It's so difficult to find like minded people any more. Any ideas, anyone?
I luv Louivul!!! I know tons of good people there. Parents moved us there when I got out of high school. Went to UofL. Stayed in Hurstbourn, then Cherokee (right behind Bardstown Rd), Old Louisville and Crescent Hill. Man those were my stompin' grounds thru the 90's. My sister still lives there near Churchill Downs. My best memories are from Louisville and exploring Daniel Boon Nat. forrest where I went to my 1st gathering. Anyone heard of the 'Merry Pranksters'? I used to see them every Sunday night playing Dead tunes at Jockomos pizza.
I'm not certain what day of the week it is now, but last year there was a "gathering" of hoola hoopers, fire poi, glowstringing, etc., in Cherokee park in Louisville. People gather around, toke and drink beer. It happened every tuesday night when the sun went down. Maybe we could start there
