The extraordinary face of the Moon

    Zoomable flash version:
    Nearside Spectacular

 You gotta see this!! This is COOL! Mouse click where you want to go, or use the features at the bottom of the moon pic. When you zoom you may have to give it a sec to focus.

I zoomed at the bottom of the moon and panned up slowly. It was like flying over the moons surface. Then I stopped at a crater and went in. There was these things in there that looked like veins in the soil.

Maybe they forbid google from getting too close for privacy reasons?

Besides, we can't go there and mine it like they want to do on the moon.

Helium-3 for fusion baby. Energy of the future. I truly think eventually (in our lifetime) we will have all sorts of people setting up shop in space - the moon, Mars, space stations (beyond the international one which, to me, is sort of a baby step), etc. It is the solution to so many problems.

Why are we so interested in Luna? So boring. Jupiter's or Uranus's are better.

Maybe it would be more interesting if you didn't post the photos in black&white. This ain't the 1920s

    Interesting point!

Why isn't it a color camera? Or is it, and the moon is just that one color?

    hmm..

And is anyone looking for moon landing evidence? Where are the conspiracy theorists around here?

I didn't blur it out. But yeah, it does look like there's a bunch of used rubbers around that area.

This is very, very cool. At 24,000 pixels this is HUGE. Thanks for the info!
