I've been in an art rut for the last 3.5 years. I went to university for animation and it sucked all the creativity out of me. I didn't even last a semester there. I used to doodle something every single day. I had to. I worked with all sorts of mediums, traditional and digital both.

Art was my stress relief. I vented through art. It was everything to me. I mean, i wanted to do this for a living.

So what inspires you? What gets you out of an art block? Where's your favorite place to create art, be it pictures or words? let's see some examples of your art, too! :sunny:

it was a shitty school with shitty teachers who made you feel like shit. basically my drawing teacher told us we weren't there to expand our own unique talents, but to draw just like everybody else. our assignments were ridiculously boring and i didn't feel i was learning anything. kind of made me sick of art with all the steps and rules we had to follow.

it's just hard to start back up when you get the passion for it sucked out of you. believe me, i want to, but it's so hard to get back into it.

I just enjoy painting, and I know that it is a relaxing activity to do. I see a scene and just want to put it in watercolors.

i went through your pictures. you've got a really bold and colorful style. watercolors are so hard to keep precise but you've done a great job!

I think I've got a lot of inspiration from psychedelic experiences.

Before I was drawing anime and manga stuff. After taking LSD, my drawings turned to something else.

Ayahuasca has also been a great source of inspiration.

But not only drugs. I also get inspirated by other people and other art, music, feelings, the drama in relationships etc. hehe.

im not sure what inspires me, i have to create in one way or another or im not whole. my spirit suffers if i dont put something creative and hopefully beautiful in the world that wasnt there before.

however when i see an old man sitting alone in a coffee shop i feel the need to do a charcoal drawing.

    1) stress relief
    2) anything that peaks my interest - I once wrote a poem about dying love based on a word I learned in Accounting (depreciation; but I lost the poem)

I have always drawn and painted, but last September I began a course in Art and Design, and the good thing about it is that we're basically free to depict whatever we feel, only stivking to broad, rough guidelines. We did some work on Cubism and it was so satisfying to paint in my favourite style, without just doing what someone else wants me to do :D Mainly, what inspires me is experiences, if I'm drawing or painting I will always think about significant things that happened recently, usually they inspire my art :D

When I'm high my hands reach some papper and i start drawing, or sometimes when i'm bored and listen to some music, i try to draw something out of it. I think that lots of situation can be inspiring, but also idea, believes, feelings etc.. can be inspiring, cause sometimes you try to express it by a drawing. Pictures in your head.. stuffs like that :)

video games and anime introduced me to the world of exploring art. i've learned many techniques from these as universal as it sounds.
