i don't agree with all of what the article says, but i think this part is helpful in understanding what has become to me an alien mindset:

I dont think aliens would want anything to do with those people. The conservitive mindset is a backwards mindset.

If conservatives don't want the government to tell us what we can and cannot do, why are so many Prohibitionists?

Conservative is just dislike of change, no matter what it is. They don't have any other ideology.

Because change happened, so when you do not like change, and change happens, you react.

The ideology of conservatives not liking change is a cop-out. That is not the ideology, change always happens.

if you are familiar with mathematics, and the theory of universes, the 'universe' of conservatism overlaps with the universe of rigid christianity (as practiced in some countries). rigid christianity is as fanatical and dogmatic as rigid islam or any other 'set of rules'. this is why the 'prohibitiionism'; that prohibitionism has nothing to do with conservatism....neither rigid christianity or islam approves of drunkenness or drugs. i would not confuse 'conservatives' with 'libertarians'. they are different. labels don't explain everything.

the fact is that many of these 'labels' overlap from one universe to another...i am extremely libertarian on some issues, while i am not on some others. nearly everyone i know has inconsistent beliefs...and therefore, they inhabit multiple universes. the more you know about someone, the less easy it is to pigeonhole them; however, most of us are lazy and had rather pigeonhole someone, and toss them into some group, never to be reconsidered. easier to hate that way.

i get somewhat excited and have a boundary tends to be 'are you fucking with someone else and telling them what to do when they aren't hurting anyone else but themselves?'. putting hands in someone's pockets, telling them what to do when they aren't hurting anyone....i don't care for that. then again, i don't care for all the mindless breeding which is slowly killing us all....and i'm wrestling with that, and have been for some time. life is not simple.

I wish someone could explain why the conservatives are so against middle and lower class working people, when they/we are the ones who do all the work and buy all the products that the owners of businesses make?? Is it just that they want ALL the money and just can't seem to see the stupidity and unfairness of their thought?? I just don't get the morality(?) of conservative thought. They don't seem to care about anything except that which puts MONEY in their pockets. If they were given everything they want to get done-there would be no EPA,no social security,no unions,no 40 hour work week,no overtime,no child labor laws,no lawsuits over deleterious products that harm or kill people,no minimum wage laws,0 abortions for any reason ,ect, ect. All my old friends are hard-core republicans-Rush Limbaugh listeners and we do not discuss politics or we would not remain friends. And yet --they're( the conservatives) getting put back in office by the same middle and lower class people that they love to screw over. I agree the national and state debts are out of control--but notice how they want to reduce them. Always to the disadvantage of everyone but themselves.

I didn't address the original question. What they want and would be acceptable to them would be everyone working for a couple 'a bucks an hour as many hours as possible -no employer provided insurance ,no work place safety laws,no safety net of any kind, and of course-shut the fuck up and work. Get pregnant--you're gone. Get sick-you're gone. Personality conflict-you're gone. Try and defend yourself against their total control of you-you're gone.Even talking about forming a union to protect yourself against work place transgressions-you're gone -OR WORSE. Don't believe me? This is the way it used to be before unions were formed in the blood of the desire to have some fairness in their workplaces and dems voted all the remedies to abject slavery into law.(including civil and women's rights) Go right ahead and vote them back in. Oh yeah--eternal war would probably suit them just fine. Hell, there's plenty of cannon fodder to be sent wherever they decide there are resources "we"need.. Lots of armaments to provide. Follow the money-always the money. When you follow it far enough--you'll see the true face of conservatism. And when you do-if you're not frightened -you may as well be fast asleep.

You notice under that ideology that works out to freedom and justice for the few, not freedom and justice for all..
I think a lot of the government programs got their start during the depression or at least some of them and also around that time the unions. Iv seen photographs from that period where people were sitting out on the street on their beds because they had been evicted for not paying rent. It was just all the way down the block. We had a conservitave president at that time and his idea of helping the people was not helping them at all. They tried to fight any attemt at getting people food and housing and later unionizing. Protests and attempts to put them down in those days was done with axe handles and fists.
The last election they scored big time and already are setting about making drasic cuts to programs that would help the people and the enviroment here in the US. Unless something changes I feel that they will gain a lot more power in upcoming elections and that their will be a drastic and negative change here in america.

i was thinking about some of this today...i don't have any idea what the kind of 'conservatives' you're talking about want, scratcho. i don't think they are conservatives..i think they are 'me firsters, fuck everyone else'. those same kinds of minds are in every organized group....all they want is enough people behind them so they can grab some power over others.

i've concluded that any large label is a lie.

labels are about power. if there is a label printed somewhere...conservative, communist, leftist, democrat, christian, muslim, jew, la raza, white power, black panthers, sieu, afl/cio, general motors, microsoft, ipad, lardache, mickey mouse...doesn't matter...it is about some small group of people trying to find followers to help them achieve public notice and get them power. it's not enough they have power over their own lives, but they want to tell someone else what to do. these nasty hyenas always rise to the top, like julius caesar....and then, they try to run everyone else's business. i'm tired of humanity dividing into labels, then being against any other label.

i'm firmly against ALL OF THEM. any 'label' running our business is going to tell us what to do...it's a con. i've been conned enough in my life....i laugh every time i hear the Who sing 'we won't be fooled again'. we have been, and are being now by the marketing geniuses. i don't believe in conservatives any more than i believe in the easter bunny. i don't believe in communists...i believe in grasping humans trying to take from someone else and rationalize it. theft...that's all these labels are.

Good point about those seeking power. The main differance I see is that the me firsters are mostly on the right and begrudge others--mostly from the working class ,from anything that might stop their accumulation of capital, imagined or otherwise, while liberals or leftists are more willing to be more inclusive with "the goodies"=the benefits of a healthy society. I want to know who is going to vote to eliminate the Consumer Protection agency. I want to know who thinks corporations should be treated as individuals when it come to money in elections. I want to know who wants to eliminate social security. I want to know who it is that thinks they should have control over women's bodies. I want to know who voted against civil rights gains. I want to know who votes against single payer medical for all. ETC.There are many reasons I want to know these things. And I do know these things. They're not done by just anyone. They are done by those with the label=conservatives. I think it's natural and actually necessary to apply labels ,particularly in politics ,other wise you could vote with a blindfold on and hope for the best.

ahem....isn't that what we in the u.s. have been doing? voting with a blindfold? look at this budget thing...we're like someone with a credit card gone wild. where did the money go? in pockets...of politicians in both parties, in dictators like the shah or gaddafi. i bet, if we could get a true picture, ahmadinejad has some u.s. funds in his stash. we buy votes and favor all over the world...lately, the dollar is falling out of favor. inflation took away 'all the paper' that comes from social security. i got a letter from them 'if you take your social security by age 72, there will be no funding in x years' (i think it was 5). so, someone votes to take social security away? hell, it's GOING away....vote or no vote. that whole 'vote about it' is a show...so we APPEAR to have two parties. we have one party, putting on a play, with us as the audience. the plot is 'look at us fight! we're fighting for YOU little person! aren't you proud of us?'. yeah...sure. i'm not applauding anymore.

when i look at the history of places like the soviet union and china, i see the powerful have done the same kind of thing there that they have done here. take mexico...the lawless are the only ones who stand up to the government. the only reason the two factions are fighting is because each wants to run the country and rake in the dough. they've had turmoil since the spanish came there...why did they come? gold...power. what is the fighting and killing STILL about...gold. power.

the consumer protection agency doesn't seem to be protecting me; the fda aint, either. the dept of agriculture lies about organics. the dept of state-pillory hillary! they've been lying for years. i can't think of an agency that is really protecting me, except maybe my local cops, and they have no legal duty to me as an individual. the civil rights gains....i don't know anyone who thinks they are more free now versus 30 years ago. a black friend in the midwest told me he preferred the south...at least the prejudice was out front. this insanity with letting homosexuals marry....is that going to free them? it will give them rights when a spouse goes to the hospital, but is it changing anything else material? one of the things Skip posted sometime back about marx...karl, not groucho-was about the end of the tradesman. i have thought for a long time, the worst mistake humans have made in the last millennia was when we elevated the merchant class to respectability. in the middle ages, they were considered leeches and evil. i'm not against all business; i'm against business that rules humans. we became 'consumers' and not 'customers'. again...labels.

i can't see a difference in any of the groups. they mouth rhetoric, but they lie...i watch their actions; i don't listen to their words. i guess i'm just not groupie enough. if i would put a label on 'us', it is 'predators and prey'. everyone belongs to one or the other, no matter the illusions they hold dear.

Yes,I understand you. I mainly was addressing the state of some of the differances relative to "local",as in the US, two party system. But for sure greed within humankind is keeping most of the population of the earth in servitude. I guess you were not here when Pressed Rat was ranting about who REALLY runs the whole system of banking-resources-wars,etc. I could see what he meant and agreed with about 90% of it. I don't like the capitalist system as it is,but I'm not sure any of it can be fixed in a reasonable manner, because it's too easy, too late and too tempting to take advantage of people when control is so absolute.----------------anyway,I have to run off to the dentist. Will return.

Maybe they are not against the middle and lower class. Just a thought from an outsiders view. Assumptions made about Conservatives by Liberals are typically of the same degree as assumptions made about Liberals by Conservatives. Example: Hipforums is to a Conservative what Fox News is to a Liberal. Having an open mind and a moderate viewpoint gives a whole different perspective of both sides.

scratcho, someone-i forget who (i forget a lot of stuff...good thing, too) had a quote from henry ford about 'if the public knew how the money system works, they'd murder everyone involved in it' or something like that.

if anyone has the patience and desire, and will spend 4 hours or so reasonably attentive watching 'the Ascent of Money', they will get an education that will change their perspective on 'all sides of politics'. there are no sides. there is only money.

quick dentist jokes: 'the yanks are coming'; the drill team....i think dentists are behind all the conservative thought and trouble caused, actually.

wackyiraqi, when i do that 'political compass' test, i come out one step left of middle. the left thinks i am right, and the right thinks i am left. :)

What I don't like(among much) about those cocksuckers is everything they say and do!! And what I don't like about "we ,the people" is that so many are so easily fooled. I can't help it--I hate those bastards --and there isn't much in life I DO hate, except the richest ones and their utter contempt and ongoing attempts to reduce this country to the status of Mexico. That some idiots in this country can blame the current president for the last 100 years of ongoing attempts by these people to reduce everyone to peonage, shows just how slick the "elites" are. People just seem to just love kissing the asses of the rich, literally or figuratively. I'm sick of it. And just so the Fuckin' Bitch Institute needs to know--no,I don't intend to take any illegal actions. There--now I feel better.

I don't know how many Republicans are against the middle and lower classes, but I do know that financial concentration has increased greatly since Republican policies (and really that's quite inaccurate since Democratic presidents and politicians push it along as well - I'll term it corporatist policies) have become dominant - this time frame covers from the beginning of Reagan's term to the present.

Yeah, hate is a strong word. Remember though that greed is good and not a strong word at all for some. It's not about so-and-so being a hater but about such-and-being too damn greedy. And I disagree that Hipforums, or any online forum for that matter, is comparable to FOX news. It seems like you're making the point that fox has a conservative (being kind here) slant while here it's liberal but the message is the medium and there is no comparison between these two mediums. But this can be discussed further if you want, if not I'll leave it at that.
