The group Anonymous has claimed it aided the Revolutions in Tunisia, Egypt and Algeria by shutting down government websites and putting pages up on them supporting the revolutions. Previous actions by Anonymous have targeted the Church of Scientology.

Just yesterday there were claims that Anonymous was going to attack the anti-gay Westboro Church, but those claims were denied in a letter by the group.

even if they make claims, they could be complete lies. And when they deny something, it could be completely true.

There's no official leader that makes press releases

They've just issued a statement of solidarity with the people of Libya and a demand for the U.N. to intervene.

If it rallies the people, brings them together, as long as that goal is for good, to stop injustice, to free the people, Its good. If the long term intent of anonynous is that its good.

I don't think it's about siding with Anonymous; I agree with their statement but that is because I support the citizens of Libya.

I'm somewhat interested to see what might could come of Anonymous taking on Westboro Church...

i would like to know 'what's in it for Anonymous?' before i would lend any support, moral or otherwise. the fact they want the un to intervene anywhere tells me they do not have a practical view. i do not trust the un or their goals. i don't think un diplomats are 'about freedom'.

For all you know it's one hacker and a thousand copycats who he will never have any contact with.

Actually I'm pretty sure Anonymous is one person trying to cast a ripple effect. it's probably already out of his hands. Start a proper momentum and you don't need a centralized anything.

Well that's silly. People are so useless. Anything on youtube that isn't popular only has 12 views.
