So there are alot of people with alot of idea's about cannabis legalization. So here is my question, If you were tasked with setting the laws for cannabis legalization, what would those laws be? There are only 2 guidelines you have to follow: 1. No sale to minors 2. There must be something in it for the Feds Other then that the rest is up to you, so how would do it?
And possibly do further studies of the impact on driving while under the influence. I know that the current consensus is that marijuana does not impair driving, but I also know a couple of people who do feel like their driving skills suffer after a few too many joints.
What would be classed as being under influence. The drug testing today are all very yes or no when it comes to drugs. Clearly defined limits on how much is reasonable to have or own with equal punishment for ppl breaking the laws
Oh, you're part of THAT braindamaged crowd. Because you CAN smoke until it makes you less safe does not mean that it's not safe to smoke and drive. Marijuana needs to be legal, period, for anyone over 18, or under 18 with parents supervision, in the way that minors may legally drink. Otherwise the last three quarters of a century of violent repression will keep bleeding through. There needs to be no grounds on which to descriminate against cannabis use. Acting out of control in public is not acceptable and social norms about behavior need not change. But a complex system of driving laws, blood levels (as though they mean ANYTHING, with THC) age restrictions, weight limits, and the like, will only leave lots of open ways for resentful fascist pigs to fuck marijuana users.
I HOPE I'm not brain damaged. If anything, I'm on your side here. I would think that providing unbiased studies would, in fact, prove that cannabis does NOT impair driving to the point of making legislation necessary. I do not believe that more studies necessarily means more laws. But if we don't research and find out, then the law could treat driving under the influence as "impaired driving" even without any solid evidence. Then again, I'm always so nervous that Cannabis is going to get legalized finally, only to be taken back away from us because we went too fast and missed a critical point somewhere along the line.
Well in my opinion not being able to pass a sobriety test for any reason, from being tired to drunk to whatever, should result in a citation, but I think there should be different levels of citation, so that driving tired or stoned would be closer to a parking ticket than driving drunk, which would be pretty harsh. But if you can pass the test and behave in a sober manner, I don't give a shit what levels of what you have.
Barack Obama will broadcast over every television at 4:20PM and say "Cannabis Is Legal, That is all." Then we smoke.
All politicians, police and judges responsible for charging people for growing people/dealing/possession should be made to serve commensurate sentences in line with the punishments they have dished out.
Here is a link to the most recent study I could find, note alot of people have tried to prove it dangerous without much success. The THC level in the linked study seems kind of low to me but here it is anyway. http://www.westcoastleaf.com/?p=1168 If you search: Influence of cannabis on driving and you'll get a wealth of information.
I would PERSONALLY legalize cannabis by planting it everywhere, in such large amounts that the dea couldn't keep up with all the weed growing. And all of you can have free bud forever and no regulations, period.
Well this aint gonna be popular. Cannabis should be seized where hard drugs are found too and a big fines imposed. On a brighter note I would scrap cannabis testing for most jobs and where possible wipe criminal records for minor cannabis offences going back 10 years. Additional. If hard drugs are found in a group of ppl then all cannabis in that group should be seized.

Grow as many plants as you want. No sale to minors. Cannot smoke in public places which include: city streets and sidewalks, town squares, high density urban parks. The reason I say this is because there are gonna be plenty of non stoners out there who could easily get buzzed through one whiff of your second hand smoke. They wouldn't like it and would fight to get it illegal all over again. Everybody convicted and jailed of marijuana related charges will be pardoned.
Those in the DEA and government who were responsible for false information should have some kind of punishment. Realistically just lose their jobs. Weed should be generally unrestricted for those over 18. If you are 18, you can buy it like cigarettes(eww.. *those* things). The sales of mj cigarettes aka commercially made joints will be taxed. Any private sales of mj will be untaxed. Unlimited growing rights. You may grow a backyard full of it if you want, then give/sell it to your friends. No smoking in public. Restaraunts / other establishments have the choice of allowing smoking. If they say you can't it will be a misdemeanor to do so. Being blazed in public is ok if you act in accordance to the usual laws of conduct. Driving is ok. Because there is NO way to tell if someone is really blazed or totally sober. They could even be sober with some thc in their blood. If they drive poorly they will get a "driving to endanger" or if they arn't able to pass a sobriety test it could be a misdemeanor? ^^^ i am the kind of stoner who is somewhat verbally nonfunctional on certain kinds of weed, or anything more than a few hits. I can still drive fine until I'm quite a bit more ripped than that, so the whole driving thing, imo, is why cannabis legalization has been stalled so long. *edit* pardon ALL mj related offenses. ALL of them. And mayb some sort of compensation for them being jailed? Refund all citations in states that do that? MJ prohibition is just wrong...
