the only thing that concerns me here is if some fool decides to actually physically harm someone, or burn the church (back to that fire reference), the act will be used to further the controls over the public already in place.

i have no idea how we do it...we have GOT to stop fighting with each other. this has never happened before in history. i do not think it will occur until only one human is left...but i hope.

i told a lady sometime back that our dna is 99.7% (or higher) the same from any one human to the next...and we fight like the homo sapiens right next to us is a different species trying to eat us.

Wow, I have to admit I was unaware of the Westboro Church before today. After visiting their site I was simply amazed at the amount of hate. I almost laughed out loud at their counter showing people being sent to hell, I'm assuming that it resets everyday as the number was 251 and raising.

I thought the bible taught to love not hate and that each of us would be held accountable for our sins at the pearly gates. I wonder with all that hate how many of them will make it to heaven, unless I missed the memo and God put them in charge.

 

WBC is pretty hate filled. But I don't think that anybody, especially a group supposedly dedicated to free speech, should be in the business of shutting down what someone else has to say just because they don't like it.

Showing up to funerals as uninvited guests is clearly harrassment, but I think WBC should be able to spew whatever they want on their own webpage.

 

this reminds me of a story that a friend once told me.

He said that a group of neo-nazis had arranged to have a meeting in a town's public library. When they left the library, a group of protesters surrounded them and beat the crap out of them.

When a group which says hateful things but (in this case) not engaging in violent acts gets the crap kicked out of them by "anti-hate" protesters, they seem more like nazis to me than the neo-nazis.

I don't have a reference for the details of this particular story, but I do think there are folks out there who would say it would be ok to beat up neo-nazis, even if they were not engaging in violent acts.

I don't think that it serves anyone's interests to shut down opinions. I'm not saying that every place is a proper forum for every opinion, but I think that there should be some forum for every opinion.

When all of the opinions are out there, then there is a chance that conflicts can get resolved through dialogue.

When you shut down opinions that you don't like, I think conflicts are more likely to lead to violence.

I think all this will just call more attention to those inbred, fucktards at the WBC and delay the day that they will fade away and be forgotten. Although it will be pretty funny if Anonymous manages to take over their site and fill it with hardcore gay porn. And it's only a matter of time if even a small fraction of Anonymous decides to attack.

 

I love the idea of paying for your right to free speech. We all have to do it some time or another. As long as this horribly offensive voice (WBC) is not permanently silenced, I think this is all a great laugh.
