I just read the post of sleeping pills but that didn't really answer my question. I have been suffering from insomnia too. I've tryed no caffiene, new bed clothes, cleaning my room, moving my laptop and tv out of my room, a hot bath before bed, reading, sex, journaling, tea, and my last resort was a herbal suppliment that normally works for me, Valerian (sp) After ALL that Im still not sleeping, I'm going crazy its been over a week and a half...I dont have cash for a doctor just yet and I really would rather not take pills anyway. So does anyone have any other things I could try? Much Love, Sasha
Is there any one question that you are trying to answer and can't? If so, that is your challenge, find an answer that you can accept.
Not to sound like a pot head but smoking really dose make people sleep like a rock. Dont know if you'ld prefer smoking over pills or not taking anything at all, though. If you dont want to put anything in your body, try getting into meditation. I haven't in a long time but it is really relaxing and if you let it can lead you straight into sleep.
I agree with BlackGuard on this one. I normally get insomnia from thoughts about a certain problem whizzing round my head. Otherwise, what I do, is I just let gravity take my body and just let everything drop. Just become aware of your body and where any tension is and let it go. Then what I do is a find a point in my body and mind where I am really sleepy. This is normally not very hard to find, but it is dominated by other things. Just pay as much attention as you can to this point and allow it to dominate over your senses, your body and your mind. You normally drop like a stone into snoozy land. Blessings Sebbi
maybe this is strange, but i get wicked bad insomnia just before my period..... nothing helps, not even valerian!
I just read a really interesting article about insommnia. There was a women who had insomnia for about 10 years after a series of bad things in her life (divorce, lost her job...) She tried a lot of stuff too (including drugs/hypnosis) but found what really worked was when she went to a clinic that analyzes how people sleep. They determined that she needed only 6 hours of sleep a day. Most people need between 6-10. Depends on the person. Anyway, they told her not to go to bed until she felt tired and not before the six hour mark (she had to get up at 5:30 so she never went to bed before 11:30) and if she couldn't sleep she should get up and do something relaxing. She only used her bed for sleep and sex, nothing else. And never had naps during the day. If she went to bed too early or had naps she wouldn't get the QUALITy of sleep that she needed. Well, you are probably stressed about something since it's only been a week. But I still think it's an interesting article. Saje
i am an insomniac, i have tried everything, i just think there is too much stuff going around in my head.
I just replied to the other post about sleeping pills butI will again. Melatonin works and is over the counter. Its inexpensive and can be bought at your local drug store.
doesnt always work, I can smoke untill I cant see straight, and sleep MAYBE 4 hours. I agree with Saje's findings. Some ppl only need little amounts of sleep, whether it be all in one sitting or spaced out thru naps. I can live off of 4 hours, I might not be quite as alert as I am when i get 6 or 8. I think over time your body adjusts anyways, but then again I could be wrong.
Thanks for all your help, last night I put the fan back in my bedroom I had moved it cause its winter here and all... But last night when I put back in my room a slept like a baby. I think its the combination of sound and cool air that did the trick. Thanks again! Sasha
