From my own personal experience, I've found that the only position that penetration can be guaranteed is the good old Missionary - ideally with the receivers' knees hooked over your shoulders. I've always found the more traditional Doggy Position to be awkward to angle the penis into a penetrative position, plus the buttocks can get in the way of achieving full penetration. I've also found the Doggy Position can also be quite painful, as it requires more of a forced entry.

Once you get into it properly there are all sorts of positions that can work but my favourite and the best starter position is the (modified) missionary. You need to tilt your ass up a bit more (you can use a cushion). Really what you need is a position that allows for good access to your ass and for you to be comfortable and relaxed at the same time.
