switch it up a bit .... put down the electric and strum out some rhythm on the accoustic for a coupla months
Yeah his is true in a bit because if I had a noise composer and a MesaBoogie Roadster.....I think I would sound epic! please reframe from insulting Motorhead and comparing them to green day posers.
Dave Gilmour has said that he could never play fast. However you feel about him he is well rated and is pretty sick. You don't need to be breaking boundaries or matching your idols to be a good player. Fast playing doesn't equate to better music after all. I find metal guitar to be soulless and devoid of feel completely. Sure, they're talented and probably gifted and all but that's not what I'm in to. Out of the billions in the world, you're going to have to accept that there are going to be players who just pick it up naturally and/or put in serious hours from the beginning, don't fret about youtube players. So what? Plenty of decent guitar work isn't complicated at all. Just needs to move you in some way. Keep on playing ;D
Yeah I noticed this too. After a year of not playing I was so rusting but as I continued I reharvested my skills. Yeah but I like to go to a teacher so that I get a different POV of my playing. Yeah I do hammer ons and pulls off which lead to Legato. I do blends in every possiblity like you mentioned. Pinch harmonics is a bit hard for me though. I like blues, funk , country and classical guitar. I try to pick up different techinc from each one and try different rymthm patterns.
Yeah am going to start to do that and set at least a hour for my guitar and have different style to play.
I quit drums for about 6-7 years. It was the biggest mistake of my life. I got back to playing them and relearned everything I forgot. I'd be a much better drummer if I hadn't quit.
very true. I find it very natural playing the bass. But its in the technique that I see one must harvest to be unique.
It is said to take 10,000 hours to become virtuous at anything. I have had to choose to cultivate some things and let others go. We simply don't have time in a life to develop virtuosity in too many endeavors. So it is not a failure on your part to decide that the guitar could be played, just for fun.
I was the same with guitar but I notice with learning that I become more organized and have a guide to what notes run well together!
I understand that there will be better players then me but I never want to let down my standerds. As for my guitar heroes, I still want to be able to play what they play! thats what am afraid of quiting and then years pass by and I get a iche for guitar and see how many years I wasted not palying. thats why I dont quit. I also hate quiting in general.
Yeah Steve Vai said this! It stakes 10,000 hours to cultivate virtuousness but like I said am not a quiter maybe just stubborn. I love the guitar too much to just quit.
Non-musician here, but something I've heard guitarists say including my son ,is always try to play/practice with someone better than you. Gets one out of a rut and re-invigorates the desire to be better. It's what I've heard, anyway.
THis is who I inspire to become : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EVvx5joxdA&feature=related"]YouTube - Jani Liimatainen (Young Guitar)
