Wanting to find a place to hang my hat for a while..

I'm 22 year old lesbian... and I have been planning a "trek" around the west coast. I will basicaly be hiking and taking the Greyhound anywhere that strikes me for the next few months. The reason I am posting here is becasue I would like to maybe meet up with some good people along the way, the ideal situation would be a large plot of land where I could camp for a few days in exchange for good hard work. I know this is a bit of a long shot but never hurts to try right?
