Paul Mitchael's Green Tea Shampoo is what I have been using this past month. Its super expensive shampoo, but my fiance's Aunt is a hairdresser and gives us huge bottles for really cheap.

    its all natural

Its pretty much got everything in it

    tea tree
    lavender
    peppermint

and other natural ingredients, and it doesn't leave residue and smell amazing, also tingles the scalp. I wash my dreads once a week with it. I love it!

Yeah I read into it more, and it ended up leaving Residue so I switched back to My anti-residue shampoo. I'll still use it once a month because it makes my Hair/dreads look healthier . I mean I know dread heads that have used just normal shampoo the whole time and nothing happened so IDK.

Seeing as were on the topic of shampoos. I'm going to stop using Bronners and revert back to cheap supermarket shampoo.

Any reason why? I just started using it and it makes my head super itchy, but does wonders for my face.... before that i just used water and it was great, my head was never greasy and didn't smell but i think i'm going to try this baking soda jazz...

also i would like to thank this entire community, everyone is soo helpful and informative.

So today for my xmas gift to my head i decided to try out one of these deep cleanses. I did the one described by Merrivale but with a little lemon juice added(honestly no idea what this does.... if its for scent it didn't work) and it worked some crazy magic on my head. for the last few weeks iv had a feeling I was developing mildew in my hair, it would smell like gross old wet towel but only when it was wet, and after this my hair no longer smells weird wet... it just smells normal wet. I'm soo happy about that too. i must add after soaking them and squeezing i noticed how nasty the water looked i rinsed and repeated and there was no more gross water..... so in conclusion SUCCESS!!!!! Thanks to everyone who shares their knowledge on this board.... i think iv been converted to washing with baking soda.... goodbye dr.B

How are you guys applying these mixtures to your head? Are you letting your dreads/scalp soak in a bucket of the stuff, or are you slowly pouring it over your heads? I see a lot of people talking about letting their dreads soak...

    Trial and Error.

    To Tacofarian

No reason I just want something that makes my head squeaky clean. Baking soda and/or water alone does not get my head clean.

Domikatetrix's recipe is AMAZING!!! I had the horrible smell of sour milk (don't ask) lodged in my hair, not only did it get rid (which nowt else seemed to be able to do) but it locked my dreads up way more than they were.

    SHE IS MY NEW GOD!!

How long are you supposed to dip your head in the mixture?
