Scientists have discovered a way to prevent most flu thru a new type of vaccine that increases T-Cell activity. This provides more protection against most flu viruses. The vaccine is still in the testing stage with small human trials. They plan to mix this new vaccine with existing seasonal vaccines to provide both T-Cell and antibody protection for current flu types.

Sounds to me it could help people with a lot of diseases if it can boost T-Cell counts...

I just read where the usual flu vaccine is only 20% to 30% effective in ppl over 50... So this would also benefit them.

Its effectiveness would undercut some pharmaceutical industries profits I'd expect.

Eh. Would much rather build my own immunities than force it. Seems to be working just fine so far

I often wonder as well that since most people aren't eating/living healthy and getting ill all the time that it is allowing flu viruses and the like to proliferate through our species more.

Maybe the rest of us who do try to life healthily/holistically have to put up with being exposed to flu bugs more as a result.

Contrary to the generally accepted medical definition the immune system is not there to "fight off" viruses and bacteria, it is the bodies mechanism for incorporating and regulating such things to a healthy balance.

Naturally then being over exposed to high levels of such things then stresses each others immune system more than normal. If everyone lived healthy lifestyles then we would all collectively deal with common illnesses like this in a much more efficient way and maybe a lot diseases in we have today would not be as much of a problem.

Mcleod, I'm pretty sure it's a combination of that and how as a society we take pills and all sorts of preventative medicines because we're scared so our bodies never even have a chance to gain the immunities. Remember everyone, the money isn't in the cure. It's in the treatment.

That's what I was thinking. The reasons for implementing the vaccine must outweigh the loss of profits for pharmaceutical industries. The well-being of people have never really been all that important to governments or pharmaceutical industries. I'd wonder what those reasons are...

If the vaccine can help the truly sick, this is great. For those who are healthy but get it to prevent, well we don't know the long term health benefits yet. I personally wouldn't take such unless my life was already on a thin line.
