I am new to packpacking, but i am really loving it so far, and would like to do alot. in january i am going to california and going to do just an overnight trip through big basin state park. my friend and i were also thinking of maybe yosemtite, depending on the weather or some place in utah. i guess i am just wondering where the best places you all have gone to have been and if you can make any recomndations. i'm not the most athlectic person, but i guess i'm up for any cnallenge. i saw that zion you need some climing skills, and i am getting better at that, so that isn't a problem either. also has anyone done any trails aorund wisconsin? okay well any tips or advice would be great. thanks!!!
I live 5 minutes from Big Basin. It is absolutely magnificent! Yosemite can get crowded from time to time, but it is beautiful and worth seeing. The rock climbing is excellent, something for everyone. Only advise I can give you is have a wonderful time and take lots of pictures to share.
look up the Appalachian Trail or Pacific Crest Trail. both are long trails on each coast which have lots of scenic parts
i spent 2 weeks backpackin in New Mexico with some friends. yea the appalachian runs most of the east coast(ive done parts, not the whole thing...yet).
I think I read about a HOOGE Northern Scenic Trail that leads through Wisconsin? Of course it's a bit inconveinient(sp?) at this time of the year, but maybe in a few months ,eh?
